    >Barbieland is a saccharine shithole where no one can have any emotions
    >There is no purpose, no one ever does anything fun, no one strives for anything, they're all like cows chewing cud
    >Men are treated so poorly that even just acknowledging they exist brings them to tears in the real world
    >Women have more fun under the 'patriarchy' when Ken instates it
    >Women desire control and power, and to take it back, they are emotionally abusive to men, they are manipulative to them and just all around unpleasant
    >Women literally force men to fight in wars to instate their supremacy
    >Woke people give speeches on how depressed and miserable they are, they are just generally angry and unpleasant people to be around
    >The movie ends with admitting that bullshit utopias (let's face it, in this case a left wing one) are not possible and you need to live in the real world
    >And with men being at their strongest by feeling purpose, and by supporting men, and for not being subservient to women, especially toxic women

They accidentally made an anti-woke movie.

The Kendom Come scenes are literally the only scenes in the movie where every single person on screen - save for a small clique of disgruntled b***hes who don't even live there, including Barbie because she LEAVES - is perfectly happy with their life.

Movie still somehow ends with a quip about
      >"Can we have a man on the supreme court in Barbieland?"
      >"No, but maybe someday you can be a district judge"
and implies that men in Barbieland are as subjugated as women in real life. Despite the fact that the literal Supreme Court is half women.

        >"No, but maybe someday you can be a district judge"
And yet STILL they choose to stay and make their world better for BOTH genders and work with them. Because men stay to fix things for the better. Barbie abandons her world. Ken mans up, gets abusive, neglectful women out of his life and stays to improve his reality. And this movie is supposed to be woke lol

To be fair, I think the idea that the film was “supposed to be woke” is more media narrative than it is reality. I think the movie was aiming to be mostly balanced. Greta Gerwig doesn’t strike me as a total psycho dipshit feminist.

              Doesn’t matter. You can parse her early life however you want or debate however many microseconds are based versus woke trash in this movie;
              >it is still ~~*Hollywood*~~ corporate propaganda
Avoid at Al costs, don’t waste your money on it. If you have someone in your life who wants to see it, pirate it or buy a used copy down the line to keep your hard earned cash out of the studios hands. Frick ~~*Hollywood*~~ as much as possible, as hard as possible, in their wallet.

this. the movie isnt that well thought out (typical women) to be some political piece its just a comedy with some female "empowerment" moments

The movie literally shits on both misogynists and misandrists. It makes fun of moronic 4th wave feminists. I don't think it was trying to be woke buddy. It's calling out 'woke' bullshit and the beauty is that some morons watch it and never get the actual message.

Reading people’s film interpretations on twitter, reddit, IST, etc. does not inspire a lot of hope for art literacy. It’s as if a majority of people are literally incapable of comprehending nuance.

The narrator literally makes a comment about how one day the Kens "might" have enough power in Barbieland as women do in the real world. There's a scene where a character gives some cringe monologue about how being a woman is so tough because of society and male expectations. The father character appears like twice, both times as a gag. Where did you get this impression it clowns on the woke? The closest thing I can think of is how there's clearly only two genders. Even the child, who is the closest thing to a stereotypical zoomer anti-capitalist, is never really shown as "wrong" when they go on another long rant and make Barbie cry. The film is definitely feminist and liberal leaning. Unfortunately, the political stance is as nuanced as a YouTube video from 2014. I'm surprised they didn't mention the gender pay gap.

          >monologue about how being a woman is so tough because of society and male expectations
It didn't click that the women are meant to represent men in this movie and vice versa?

            Anonymous

No. What does that even mean?
There is one comment about the real world and Barbie world being inverses of each other, but I thought that was pretty clearly simplifying the social hierarchy (i.e. women are second class citizens in the real world). I don't see how it extends to a point where a monologue about being a woman is actually applicable to men. The film is clearly feminist.

            >cringe monologue
That was a bunch of entry level talking points that have been parroted for 20 years. It didn't really say anything new or challenge the status quo. Obviously it was pro feminism, but not in an obnoxious way.

It's hard to be more obnoxious than giving a character give an uninterrupted monologue for a few minutes. I liked the film overall, but the third act started to take its toll, especially when the stock footage "isn't it great to be a human" montage played out.

              Anonymous

Of course it does. Listen to the monologue again. Its applicable to men

Nobody is taking notes and doing an analysis and abstracting the events shown in a movie like this. It's literally a kids movie, just some fun feminist indoctrination. Most leftist bullshit is contradictory, anyway, this is nothing new and leftists don't care. Why do people go such lengths with this movie, desperately trying to find some hidden "real" meaning that is OMG BASED AND REDPILLED? You see men being idiots, the message is that men are idiots, period. Not some WELL ACKSHUALLY...
The cope with this movie is unreal.

Ryan “the Goose” Gosling is a fricking homosexual who refused to show the US flag in a movie about the moon landing because he said it was a global achievement, not an American one.
