    A guy shared one of his protein bars with me during basic. Felt like I was eating chalk pasted and probably tasted like it too. Checking the ingredients it was some pea protein and onions protein mix. Overpriced and nutritiously void, just a way for gym consoomers and fat hogs to justify eating candy. You can make your own for dirt cheap and with a way better protein to calorie ratio

    You guys have no idea how bad the average person's knowledge of health and fitness actually is. We exist in a bubble here on IST where most people have at least a basic understanding of the fundamentals of fitness and we take that knowledge for granted. Protein bars exist to be sold to clueless fatasses who understand protein = muscles and nothing else. They're supposed to be candy bars because the target audience wants to eat candy while feeling like they made a healthy decision. That's literally it. I've had coworkers who genuinely believed they would get jacked by eating protein chocolate bars, drinking protein chocolate milk, and going for a 10 minute jog one a week.

    It's candy with less sugar (sometimes none at all) and more brotein, what's not to like? I've swapped all my donut/candy/cake/cookies/etc cravings for brotein bars and it has worked out great. I also started making my own bars that are just

    >bake > fridge > slice into bars
    And they're good af.
