The only thing comparable we can experience is lava. Hot as shit and creatures can live near it but not within. We cannot be absolutely certain that within the universe no creatures live on/in stars but it's unlikely. A nice daydream though, imagining giant serpentine creatures swimming in vast oceans of energy.
The sun is the best star there is. Period.
If the Sun is the only star with life around it, then the entire rest of the universe exists just so we can.
