Why bench like that?
i remember some dude on my football team did that no one else even attempted it once after that
Allows for more effort on your upper body to bench since you eliminate leg drive and have a more unstable position
Can't you just do larsen press instead? The instability of the feet up is worse than the larsen press and that isn't a good thing since a stable position helps you push harder and activate your chest better
Powershitters think they're squatting the bench press up so they invent this moronic variation because it's hecking based and conjugate.
>t. 1pl8 bencher
Everyone I know that fricks around with variations forever is a sub 2pl8 bencher. I'm certain you're not different. You're terminally on youtube looking for that one secret lift that will finally make you stop being a b***h.
post body
This feels better for my lower back and feels im working my core a bit more
I do it because I feel like I use my chest more than my shoulders when doing it.
It’s a way of using a lighter weight to get the same stimulus. It’s actually smart programming. If you can’t bench 190 for 5 because of your wrist, but you can do this for sets of 10 with 135 with a slow eccentric, then you can get a similar stimulus on the chest without hurting your wrist, for example.
Basically this:
, I started doing it after I had a major lower back injury, which after rehabbing didn't affect me at anything EXCEPT my bench press, literally couldn't bench shit because I would be in pain if I didn't have my legs in this position.
Also, it indeed activates my core more, and I'm lifting 10% less weight this way, so I guess it's not a meme
This 60 year old guy that goes to my campus gym takes literally every single 45 plate that isn’t being used in the gym and puts them on the leg press machine
I’ve seen him put barbells on it if he can’t find plates
He will then proceed to do 2-3 quarter reps, and then walk around for 30-40 minutes, sometimes a full hour, not doing anything just talking to people about how he used to leg press 1600-1800 pounds
I am the gym boomer
>Does 3 partial reps complete with loud gruntingin between 20 minute breaks in your path
Boomer lifts:
Decline bench, front squat, power cleans, barbell curls, bent over rows
Zoomer lifts:
Sumo deads, low bar squats, Larsen bench, single arm lat pull downs, hip thrusts, weighted dips
pretty spot on except for larsen presses. only see millenials doing it oddly enough
Unironically a better exercise than the zoomer powerlifting style bench you see in most gyms these days.
This while wearing the mandatory tap out t shirt and the longest baggiest Walmart and1 basketball shorts you’ve ever seen
dumbbell curls are the ultimate boomer exercise
the only free weights ive seen boomers doing are meme shit like around the world presses or shadowboxing with dbs. about half do just machines and 30% just do treadmill
I hate you fricking idiots so much. There are multiple idiots in here pushing the idea that bench press doesn't work your chest because your feet are on the ground, which also is suggesting that the bench press is a squat. Hit 2/3/4 already fricking hell
He tries to convince the kids at my gym to buy steroids from him. I know he is a psycho moron, but I've always been a bit jelly he never offered me any.
>he never offered me any
He probably thinks you already have a source. Consider it a subtle mire.
better form than 90% of fit who lets their ass off the bench
Old dude named Reza who moved from Iran & used to be a fighter and a bodybuilder when he was younger. Will always be willing to help if you need it (he will spot you or coach you, etc). Very based dude who brings positive energy to the gym, and occasionally ask boomer questions like how does Google Photos work. love him
A boomer started going to the gym the same time as me in the mornings for a while and it was a living hell. Constant grunting, "wooos", and smashing the weight stacks on the cable machines from his moronic ego lifting. I think he either got injured or banned for breaking equipment.
Always talk to each other about politics for 30 minutes and working out about 5. They bring coffee in yetis and go on the stationary bike or do hip abductors and of course the most boomer machine out there: the butterfly machine
