I've found that small amounts of beer actually aid physical training. It speeds up your digestive system, helps your body cleanse toxins, allows for better absorption of liquids, and works as a muscle relaxant and mood balancer. Of course not enough to get drunk/hungover just enough to keep things moving along at a good pace. Medieval laborers also apparently drank large quantities of diluted beer/wine.

I drink a small glass of red wine almost every night after dinner/before bed. it's not enough to get drunk but it helps me relax and I like picking apart the flavor profile(also a cigar smoker for the same reasons). it's supposedly good for your heart and I feel like it has anti inflammatory properties but that could just be bro science. note that it's important to drink quality, don't drink anything under EJ Gallo(Apothic, Barefoot, Dark Horse, that 19 crimes crap, pretty much anything you'd find in a grocery store) it's processed as hell to mass produce with sugar and whatnot added because grape quality is shit so it so it's basically coca cola.
