>Barbell rows are impossible to cheat.
What the frick are you talking about? It's one of the easiest movements to cheat on. Just swing the weight up with your hips.
There's unironically better ways to do this movement without stressing your spine. At higher weights, you don't wanna add more load to your spine every workout (lower back management) especially if you do heavy squats and deadlifts in your routine.
Chest supported row machines are the best for these. Or SEAL rows, but that limits the ROM. Or do them with a hex bar. Or do them while your chest is being supported by the elevated edge of an incline bench like a Helms row except with a barbell.
Pendlay rows are extremely safe and easy to do correct form on since the weight rests on the floor between reps. Barbell rows your grip strength starts fading and you overcompensate
Barbell rows are based. Obviously this board is full of ego lifting DYELs so a movement like this that actually requires full control through the movement is going to not going to be their favorite. They just slap 2 pl8s on it and use momentum to lift it then complain that it hurts their lower back. If you’re doing proper form and a weight that you can actually control, there’s no better way to activate the combination of lats, rhomboids, traps, and rear delts than a bent over row.
>DB bench bent over rows >T bar rows >machine rows/pulls
blasts my back without making my lower back feel at risk. i usually do deadlifts just before too so usually pretty tired from that
Just don't go overboard with the weight
Ok but if you do low weight you get zero upper back activation without going to like 30+ reps aka cardio
then go mid weight are you moronic???????
literally impossible unless you're egolifting hard (which means you deserve your trip to snap city)
10x10 and you'll feel it. Barbell rows are impossible to cheat.
>Barbell rows are impossible to cheat.

That's the entire concept of the Pendlay Row - using your entire body to prepare Olympic lifters with the first pull off the floor.
>Barbell row
>Pendlay row
Different exercises..
Not if you do them properly, which is to say explosively
*is the same but also doesnt kill your spine*
Doesn't hit glutes as hard
>rowing for your glutes
>too lazy to get free diddly gains
Or just deadlift more
>rowing
>glutes
no wonder you're getting no back activation
I never do them, too high risk of going to snap-city.
It's half your deadlift at most, how the frick are you gonna snap yourself up with that
if someone's complaining about their spine on rows, they probably don't deadlift
You are supposed to say: "Nothing personal, kid".
As you didn't people are going to think it was personal. You've ruined this thread and my life.
The fine line between too light and too heavy for the pendlay row is fricking absurd.
Thats not a pendlay row anon.
have a nice day you utter waste of space. I mean it
Why bend over this much? I just bend at the knees a bit then brace my core/spine while I lift. OPs pic is one-way ticket to snap city
dyel
let me guess, you also lift it lower than your bellybutton?
To perform the exercise correctly
that which kills you makes you stronger
now get rowing, homosexual
Pendelay rows are the way to go, but most of you can’t do them with okay form so just frick up your spine on regular barbell rows.
Hated doing barbell rows. I dropped them in favor of doing seated row machines.
Based, i love to listen to sea shanty and predent im a pirate while doing it
you do chest supported DB rows right anon?
I do, but with significantly more weight than that twink in your pic.
hurts my chest and I feel like I can't breathe
im too short for this excercise
im 5'7
I'm 5'5 and I have no problem. Are you mentally challenged or something?
must be nice living in hobbit land
T bar rows are better. T bar rows changed my lats forever
wtf is that you?
You look insane
Arne frequently drops by to give us ISTizens some advice.
WOw your huge what’s ur routine
T-bar row's range of motion is a fricking joke unless you use smaller plates. I have a ~6'4 wingspan and the ROM is still meme tier if I use 45s
How does something that strengthens my back kill my spine?
It strengthens upper back but is hard on the lower spine
you do know you have muscles in that area as well?
why is everyone so afraid to train their erectors?

chest supported db rows are safer and more effective
>isolates back muscles
>supported so no load on lower back
>db eliminates imbalances

I'm replacing dead lift with roman chair back extensions, is a good a idea?

Have you tried not being weak?
I have fricking scoliosis and I pendlay row 265 for sets of 8-10 reps.
Based, btw whats your bodyweight bro?
205-206 lbs atm.
Inverted weighted rows on rings and seal rows are good alternatives.
Just use a hex bar and less weight and a mirror to constantly check your back
>DB bench bent over rows
>T bar rows
>machine rows/pulls
blasts my back without making my lower back feel at risk. i usually do deadlifts just before too so usually pretty tired from that
i fricking hate these anon, i'm doing blahas 5x5 and they're inside the program can i switch them up with t bar rows?
do this
>i'm doing blahas 5x5
...why?
blaha is a meme but the program itself has been working well for me so far so why not, its literally stronglifts with some additional bs
Do it underhand then rather than this dinosaur pose shit.
if you want to do rows with a barbell just do Pendlays its a much better exercise
