long story short
my dad died at 55 from a heart attack and it has just come to my attention that i have high ldl cholesterol. im not fat and have a pretty physical job and eat mostly vegetarian for the most part. havent really done cardio before whats a good way to start working on my heart health and lowering my LDL?
Get on Rosuvastatin srs. High cholesterol is mostly genetic. Exercise and healthy eating won’t solve the issue alone.
>Rosuvastatin
This is for circumstances where diet and exercise alone is ineffective. If you can manage something without a pill, you should do it because all medications (that work) have side effects.
OP see your doctor, don't listen to anyone here about medical advice, including me.
>see your doct-ACK
If you know you have high LDL then start taking rosuvastatin. It has practically no side effects. LDL less than 70mg/dL and cardio will start reversing atherosclerosis. If you’re under 30 there’s very little chance any of it has calcified already so it’s not permanent. Heart disease can be scary but it’s 100% preventable so long as you do 5 things:
1. Keep BMI below 25
2. Keep LDL-C below 70 mg/dL
3. Keep blood sugar below 100 mg/dL
4. Keep blood pressure below 120/80
5. Don’t smoke
yea im 29
I had LDL at like 300 because of genetics and I thought I was going to die for sure, but after taking rosuvastatin along with fasting and clean diet it’s down to 60. I even went to the cardiologist and they said I have no valvular damage or artery calcification so as long as you catch it when you’re young there’s really no long term risk.
Just take your statins and do your cardio and you’ll be fine anon
>Keep LDL-C below 70 mg/dL
Vegan hands typed this post.
>BMI below 25
Does this apply even if your BMI is above 25 due to muscle? I’m like right at the edge of 25 BMI but i have abs
>just chug statins bro, no sideeffects whatsoever
TOP KEK
How high OP? I have 165 and don't give a shit, we all gonna die I ain't taking the israelitepill frick you israelites neck yrselves c**ts

Great news. Dave Feldman's Lean Mass Hyper Responder study results just came in. The LDL myth is total garbage. LDL is perfectly safe as long as you don't have genetics for FH.
Just get genetically tested for FH. You can also get a CAC score if you're worried.
This is a moxyte thread. That's why "OP" (moxyte) is ignoring this:
who the frick is that? this is my first ever post on IST in my life but youre a schizo and wont believe me.
>youre a schizo
Moxyte confirmed.
well ok then :/
thanks yall for all the varying opinions and bringing up stuff i havent thought of before. i really appreciate it
it's mainly genetic, and frankly, science doesn't have a clue why atherosclerosis forms.
but, i know omega 3 helps. exercise helps. going off seed oils and saturated fats may help.
never, ever listen to ketotards. they will get you dead. they are a death cult.
everyone saying it's just genetics and you MUST take a statin are morons. everyone in my family has high ldl except for me, the vegan. Just got my bloodwork back and my hdl is 41 and ldl is 45. this was after a recent blast too kek.
ldl is the easiest goddamn thing in the world to control:
>don't smoke or vape
>do cardio (150 minutes of moderate intensity per week)
>reduce saturated fats, eliminate trans fats
>eat more fiber, particularly soluble fiber
>take basically any health supplement, they all reduce ldl: berberine, astragalus, citrus bergamot, ginger, elderberry, ...
Are trans fats even in shit anymore? Feels like everyone got rid of them
12 oreo cookies per day lowers LDL more than a statin.
LDL is healthy and doesn't cause heart disease. Vegans are sickly and frail.
>reduce saturated fats
The less saturated fat someone eats the sooner they will die. Pic related.
>poor countries bad
>rich countries good
geez i wonder if there might be another reason, like maybe better healthcare, better working environments, better quality of life, hmmmmmmmmm.
>eat mostly vegetarian for the most part.
Buddy, eggs frick your heart up harder than meat. You're 29 it's ripe time you go low fat vegan.
hi im OP and was just asking how to lower my ldl. as i said im mostly vegetarian but i eat fish and shit please keep the culture war out of my thread
Eating 12 oreo cookies per day will lower your LDL.
The question is why do you want to lower LDL?
idk my dad died when i was 8 from a heart attack and i was trapped on a bluff top house in the middle of winter with his dead body and got ptsd. i dont wanna die at 55?
If you want to live longer you should eat as much meat as possible while avoiding carbs.
>Total Meat Intake is Associated with Life Expectancy: A Cross-Sectional Data Analysis of 175 Contemporary Populations

Here's another source of info showing carbs kill.
>Dietary Carbohydrates Impair Healthspan and Promote Mortality

You want to live forever? Jesus man that's so selfish. 55 years is plenty of time.
i dont want my son to get fricked up in the head because i died when he was a young kid
Then don't eat carbs, eat as much meat as possible, get a genetic test for FH, and if you're curious about your current health you can get a CAC score.
The LDL hoax is pushed by big pharma to sell statins. Vegans are useful idiots who think it helps them push plant-based diets so they go along with it.

just fyi, you are moronic if you cannot see how flawed these are. For example the study about elderly japanese it is known and established that the most important thing as one age to keep muscle mass which is done by exercise and protein intake, doesn't matter if it's plant protein or not. That study for example doesn't measure meat vs plant protein, it just measures total amount of protein.
First study
>meat intake worldwide correlated with life expectancies
Meat intake has also generally been correlated with more money which is also correlated with longer life expectancy. So again, flawed study which doesn't measure income or life.
>higher proportion of animal proteins to total proteins
And here's yet another source of info showing that meat increases lifespan. Carbs shorten lifespan.

The non meme traditional answer is to lower saturated fat intake and eat more fiber (fruits, vegetables) are your best bet. Oats and whole grains have some fiber but not really that much so I’d try to get it from fruits or vegetables due to ease of it.
I don't care about culture wars go kill animals if you want but eggs cause heart disease. If I said plant based you might not get the message that your dietary cholesterol needs to be 0
Just eat egg whites
>anon just die at a young age of easily preventable chronic diseases!
Next level shitposting
This thread was created by vegans. That's is why so many vegan shills are in it immediately.
>it’s another ketoschizo vs veganshill thread
epic
High ldl is caused by liver scarring. Do you drink alcohol? If so then you need to permanently stop (forever)
i do yea i actually just quit and im on day 4
Look into Manganese. I saw a study recently about it removing plaque from arteries.
Did your dad smoke? Do you smoke?
Was your dad overweight? Are you overweight?
Did your dad do cardio? Do you do cardio?
If you don't want to change your diet there are some easy things you can change.
If you do want to change your diet. Do you really think eating a vegetarian diet that is vastly different than the diet of your genetic ancestors' is going to make you more healthy? Whatever race you are, you really should be eating the food of your heritage. Over many generations, people have adapt. Trying to change this based on modern health fads is not likely to help you.
i smoke weed sometimes no ciggies
he was overweight and im not im only 140
he didnt do shie he was a music producer and band manager he did coke like a crazy person and never ran or did cardio i dont think
I would definitely recommend using edibles if you want to continue using weed.
Please take up cardio if you don't want to die. People seriously underestimate the effects a healthy heart has on the rest of your body. You don't have to become some malnourished runner. You can do jump rope, swimming, boxing, rowing, etc. if you do not like to run.
I'm not OP, but, I'm only 23 years old and I've noticed that my heart has been getting bad sharp pains, not only that but I've felt my pulse many times and it felt very faint and weak. I used to be an obsessive runner, and was very thin. I've been in a backslidden state for like 5 months now, eating like shit, don't work out, i smoke tobacco again, gained like 40 pounds. gotta get in shape again, i have a family history of heart problems
>eating like shit, don't work out, i smoke tobacco again, gained like 40 pounds
Gee I wonder what could be causing your heart pains? Frick you Black person I used to IV cocaine and I don’t sit around b***hing about self inflicted heart problems
ha I used to do cocaine too. i'm not b***hin about it, i know i caused it, kek.
>eat the diet of your genetic ancestors
what if I’m a mutt do I eat half of each
I'd probably just go a year(or half) of maintaining the exact same exercise routine while eating one diet. Then switch to the other diet. Then determine on which you felt healthier. It kind of sucks being a mutt, since you really don't know what kind of genetic health conditions you have inherited.
I have no health conditions I know of at least, no allergies, never been to the hospital before aside from for broken bones, nothing upsets my stomach and I eat pretty much whatever
Good for you, I'm assuming early 20's? Keep us posted when you turn 30.
I’m 31
I took out critical illness cover so if I have a heart attack I can pretty much retire if I live a humble modest life.
Best way to give a heart attack bad enough to claim but good enough to not die?
My cholesterol improved on its own without changing anything in about 7 months. I just ignored it.
The only change I did was maybe eat oats more regularly.
I tried cardio but quit after 2 sessions because Im lazy.
