I have only been lifting for about 3 months but am doing sets of 230kgs on the leg press, routinely mogging the other men who are doing 100kgs or some other pointless weight. Why do they even waste their time?

Nobody gives a frick about leg press.
All depends on what range of motion you’re doing. I’ve seen dyels put 800-1,000 lbs on the leg press then only go about half a foot down with it. Do you go all the way to the bottom? If not, you have nothing to brag about.
It doesn't matter the rom or foot placement. Leg press will NEVER give you big quads unless you are on drugs. I don't care if you use the biggest rom possible with your feet on the very bottom of platform and do 2000lbs x26 reps with a 10 second eccentric. It does nothing for a guy who isn't on drugs. Leg press will not give a natty jacked legs ever. And it will have ZERO carryover to squats. It's useful for rehab or for guys on gear. Otherwise it's worthless and you need to get off the leg press. If you don't like squatting, do hack squats, belt squat machine, bulgarian split squats, maybe even smith machine squats (I never done them) but do not do fricking leg press.
why? how do those other excercises stimulate your quads more than leg press?

kunda the hack squats because it puts you in a position where only the quads can work. you can cheat the rest. foot placement dictates whats doing more work on a leg press. you can get the same stimulus as hack squat, but will require more resistance

belt squats are the main assistance exercise for PLers who squat 1000lbs and olympic weightliters who squat 700 raw highbar. it's the #1 best leg exercise other than squats and has a direct carryover to squats.

I can leg press 11pl8 for reps but what I've found actually works best for me is 6pl8 for 20-25 reps.

Leg press has to be the ego lifting exercise by excellence, seen so many dyel/out of shape dude putting idk how many plates. Focus on your form and do high reps if you want to make it worth

leg press is the best machine for calf raises, but frick using it for squat replacement.
Occasionally I know I'm too mentally weakened to safely squat, but mentally strong enough to not hurt my back on leg press. It is not a routine thing though.
Incline leg press is the ultimate DYEL frauding machine. Any other leg press will show you numbers that translate to real life.

I only do leg presses with one leg at a time. When I first tried leg presses I found out I was already maxed out with the heaviest weight possible for the machine, so I'm training myself to max out the heaviest weight with just one leg.

inb4 not even going past 90°. Plenty of utter dyels doing that or "3pl squats" that don't go lower than 45°. Legs are so easy to cheat on that you can very easily lift double the weight the next guy is pushing just by fricking up form.
Just check how much more weight you can put on the machine just by stopping 20-30cm higher, I know with the extra angle I can throw about an extra plate because the difficulty is all at the bottom.
Olimpic barbell squats are the shit, trust me you still have a long way ahead
