    Legumes are the healthiest food you can eat and strongly linked to longevity, while animal protein causes heart disease and is carcinogenic. It's hilarious people delude themselves into thinking otherwise.

      It largely depends on how you prepare them. Legumes are high in lectins which are associated with leaky gut syndrome, a complication of which being parkinsonism (e.g. dementia). If you were to eat four kidney beans raw, the lectins would bind to your blood glucose and form a blood clot capable of killing you within minutes. You can drastically reduce the lectin content by soaking them overnight and then pressure-cooking them in fresh water.

      Regarding animal protein and cancer/longevity, you are right. Though, animal protein has a more complete amino acid profile, so lifters optimizing for healthspan/lifespan likely need more supplements. If money is an issue, you're better off eating meat every once in a while.

          Yes, you should eat legumes, they're great for your health. Just make sure to remove the lectins before you eat them, or else they'll wreck your gut and you'll develop all kinds of diseases. Soak your legumes in water for 6+ hours prior to cooking them. Don't reuse the soaking water for cooking. Same goes for potatoes and other nightshade vegetables, all of which tend to be high in lectins. beware that not all high-lectin foods can be made safe for human consumption by doing this. No amount of soaking or pressure-cooking will remove gluten (which is also a lectin) from wheat. Wheat will destroy your gut, no matter how you prepare it.
