    Dog longevity startup? lmao

You can increase your dogs lifespan by an extra 5+ years by feeding it normal food and never feeding it "dog food" or "dog snack products"

The "dog food" is literally just full of nutritionless filler junk, a 20lb bag of dog kibble will have less protein in it than 1 whole chicken and it will have very little micronutrient value. Dog food companies will make a bag of dog food for $1 with filler junk and sell it for $50 for a 50X profit on each bag

True. You don't need FDA approval for dogs. And by the time the dog dies you'll have already IPO'd and made billions

      >a 20lb bag of dog kibble will have less protein in it than 1 whole chicken and it will have very little
not even remotely true, dog food is almost 50% crude protein and puppy food is even higher

all dog food is a psyop, just feed them the cheapest raw bulk chicken you can find (or whatever meat is cheapest). I get 10 lb bags of chicken quarters from walmart for 6 dollars and feed my dog one or two a day.

        >crude protein
lmao, so basically protein that is barely digestible and has an extremely poor quality micronutrient profile

          Anonymous

That's not what the term means, fricking moron. It's literally just a measure of total protein content.

          >The only major component of most food which contains nitrogen is protein (fat, carbohydrate and dietary fiber do not contain nitrogen). If the amount of nitrogen is multiplied by a factor depending on the kinds of protein expected in the food the total protein can be determined. This value is known as the "crude protein" content.

          Anonymous

you're confusing bioavailability with crude protein newfren, though the irony of trying to deride crude protein as a term while b***hing about micronutrients is not lost on me

Horse is the word you're after. Roadkill, downed farm animals and horse. It's all rendered down to a fine, slightly yellow, crystalline powder.

This, what you need to feed though is raw meat its called barfing and my 13yo dog looks like 5yo due to it, it wont do wonders though but our last dog only lived half of that and got only dry dog food which is basically saw dust with protein

Dog longevity isn't even that tricky of a business venture because the reason dogs die as early as they do overall is because of largely optional decisions people make like feeding them medical waste. You can also give dogs different kinds of supplements, simple supplements that cost like less than a few cents a day, which on average boosts the Hell out of their lifespan because if you do it properly it manages all sorts of inflammatory processes that give rise to other issues.

There are a ton of other methods as well to extend their lifespan because right now dogs aren't even remotely living anywhere close to a lifespan they could be for simple "lifestyle" reasons. People basically let their dog do the equivalent of smoking a carton of cigarettes and drinking a case of beer a day and then are shocked when their dog doesn't live a long life. A lot of breeds that die in their early teens could probably be living until their late 20s if they were treated properly.

      Pretty much.

I swear, loving animals that much is fine for a kid but when those 25-40 yo morons use them as substitute for actual children it's beyond pathetic. After you're not able to reproduce it's ok to go back to the furisraelite but that's it. I also noticed that Americans are the most obsessed with them and even a 30yo man behaves like a teenager girl or a wine aunt spinster.
Just 50 years ago most people didn't let themselves to be "kissed" by animals. Now this shit has devolved into:

It's a very old grift. There are precisely 0 serious people in the entire field. The serious people exist in the regenerative medicine field but even in that field it's 80%+ frauds.
There are no good ways to get in on the action because even among the rare few that go public, their stocks usually don't go up no matter what, they're inherently lifestyle-type grifts, not theranos-style ones.

      >The serious people exist in the regenerative medicine field
Is there any dispute that effective increases to human lifespan will most likely come from regenerative medicine? That's something I hear from basically everyone who talks about longevity.

I would also say that medicine in-general is currently like 80% frauds, so that's not really a knock against regenerative medicine in-particular. Incidentally, I would say the same about most fields over the past few decades.

I generally see longevity/regenerative medicine as being worth pursuing and having a lot of promise, but in-general, I don't see there being many genuine innovations that measurably improve peoples' lives unless there's at least some pocket somewhere in the world that moves away from this fiat nonsense.

a lot of the serious research is focused on illnesses that kill seniors, so they live longer instead of just dying early. there's some more fanciful stuff that aims to reverse aging. however the bottom line seems to be, for now, if you want to live for a long time, then take care of your health (exercise, food, sleep, socializing) and see a doctor regularly when you get older to catch potential life-enders and get them treated. it may sound like BS, but quantum computers and artificial intelligence have a strong chance of advancing biotech, because of much much better molecular modeling and analysis. we could see some very promising things develop over the next few decades

          >a lot of the serious research is focused on illnesses that kill seniors
I used to work in Biotech, so I know that all-too-well. My general stance is that further advances in medicine will be regenerative, because the traditional approach of finding treatments for diseases one-at-a-time is, in my view, nearly tapped out. And it's like you said: Currently we're just prolonging suffering rather than actually healing.

          >for now, if you want to live for a long time, then take care of your health
Agreed, and I wish more people involved in longevity would be honest about our current capabilities (i.e., we don't know shit except that exercise, healthy eating, and sleep do wonders).

I'm overall skeptical of the hype around AI, but Biotech is one area where I really do think it could be revolutionary. And again like you said, it's precisely because a lot of our current limitations involve modeling, which is something that this technology actually does seem to excel in.

And again like you said, it's precisely because a lot of our current limitations involve modeling, which is something that this technology actually does seem to excel in.

"AI" (deep learning) has already revolutionized many parts of biotech research, but the problem is social. The 4 pillars (government -- think FDA and the likes, medicine, biology and bioinformatics) are completely silo'd, so bioinformaticians develop new tools that are used by other bioinformaticians to analyze data from biologists only to get the desired p-hacked value in the end, not to actually get new insights. Extremely rare are the outfits that properly integrate their divisions, even though it's so critical to actual advances. Nobody learned anything from the genomic revolution or from the reverse pharmaco disruption, for some reason. Big pharma bought it all and everyone just went back to what they were doing before.

I've spent a lot of time and effort trying to get people to change on this topic (both in academia and industry) but it feels like a lost cause. There are very few people who are even willing to hear anything, and they tend to recoil once you show them proof that the work they've been doing the past 30 years is probably all bogus because they didn't spend the time to understand the biological reality they were studying, for example, even though nobody ever used their tools before precisely because of this. Go figure.

I'd love to hear more about your experience because it sounds very interesting, but I think you hit the nail on the head in your previous post:

            >for now, if you want to live for a long time, then take care of your health
It's the same thing that's keeping innovation from taking root/happening at all in most fields. And especially in medicine, the innovations that do come around are often prohibitively expensive, precisely because of the bureaucratic nightmare that medicine has become. I honestly think biotech/pharma has it the worst along with energy (you could argue both are fighting for second place behind finance).

And while I respect your efforts to change peoples' minds, I doubt you'll get anywhere while they're still dependent on the money printer, either directly or indirectly.

        >Is there any dispute that effective increases to human lifespan will most likely come from regenerative medicine?
A lot, there are still some telomere cultists around and there are many fans of genetic reprogramming "healthy cancer".
        >I would also say that medicine in-general is currently like 80% frauds,
More like 50% fraud, and a large bulk of it is psych biomed being nearly 100% fraud.
        >I generally see longevity/regenerative medicine as being worth pursuing and having a lot of promise, but in-general, I don't see there being many genuine innovations that measurably improve peoples' lives unless there's at least some pocket somewhere in the world that moves away from this fiat nonsense.
There's actually already some good results that can have immediate measurable people in people's lives. We know how to rengenerate kidneys, livers already regenerate on their own, we know how to regenerate occular nerves to restore vision completely including to some classes of born-blind people, we know how to regenerate whole fingers...
The problem is regulations and centralization. If we can decentralize things, "make biohacking more accessible", platformize drug development so that you can click an "app" by "pfizer" that will generate a pill for you if you follow the instructions on your coffee machine-like biological device, all this would be fixed.

Regarding longevity my eggs are in the cell-cell fusion basket personally, so it's mostly in the regenerative camp but not exactly.

It's cheaper to clone your dog, $2k per clone and just euthanize your current version each time he starts to lose energy or get sick. It's the humane thing to do after all.
Now you've got an immortal dog that reverts into a puppy every few years. Are you not entertained?

Total grift. The secrets to longevity are known and kept hidden. Plebs are systematically poisoned and avoiding as much of that poisoning as possible is the first and most obvious step. Once you realise there has been an obvious conspiracy to poison you, it also becomes obvious that this "longevity" crap is just put out to distract and confuse you. There is so much low hanging fruit and everyone is so obviously unhealthy that shit like "fuse your telomeres and live ten years longer" is just a complete joke.

  12. 4 weeks ago

In terms of getting in on the grift, I'd bet that you can't. These things are promoted from within the cabal. If you make up up some bullshit no one will care because you will get no promotion and if you do something that actually heals people you will get shutdown.

Funny note: Richard Heart made a small attempt to get on the longevity grift before doing tokenomics instead. He's a blatant sociopath so you know he was just doing it for the grift and when he tries he can be a very successful grifter as proven by Hex so I'd bet longevity scams aren't the best play.
