Running makes your body adjust its metabolism to save energy. It can make you lose fat but it's a very ineffective way compared to adjusting your diet or even doing some strength training.
Not really true, You might use a bit less calories due to better form and such but as your runs get longer and longer you will still burn a similar amount of calories per mile. Running gets easier because your body gets better at accessing it's stored energy. My easy 5k's burn pretty close to the same amount of calories as they did when I felt like a 5k might kill me based on my watch.

They eat very little. Lad I lived with at uni was 55kg at 5'10", he always said he ate a ton and had a fast metabolism - but that blatantly wasn't true. I lived with him and I know that he only ate once a day, it was always the same meal of just a single chicken breast and a bit of rice
Same with my skelly brother, he skips breakfast, only eats a meal deal for dinner, then eats a few chicken strips for tea. Yet he insists that he stuffs his face all day and is a hard gainer

I do intermittent fasting 18:6 as well, but yeah seriously just this. OP in three weeks I've lost 16 pounds solely by eating 1,200 calories, high protein (35~40% TDI), doing a simple calisthenics work out for 1 hour 4 days a week, and only drinking water. If I started doing cardio on top of that I'd be losing even more.
