America is the most heavily advertised to nation in the world. Breakfast cereals are terrible for you and yet they are told to everyone as “the balanced breakfast”.
That being said American hate is undeserved. Limeys are some of the fattest most disgusting people on the planet, who seem to take sugar with everything, drink too much, and exercise too little. Every British person I’ve ever met is a fricking planet. Australia is just as bad.

I don't know if it was the lockdowns (not seeing many people for a long while, and taking the chance to shed pounds myself), or whether IST has just opened my eyes, but as a Bong, I'm disgusted by the >people I see when I go outside these days. It looks like only seniors and some small children are human shaped.
The lockdowns were to blame. I put on 20lbs, hate the government not its victims.
Most jobs are sedentary or don't require that much physical work. There is an abundance of food that is readily available. Cooking takes too much time due to the culture of women being in the kitchen is seen as evil so most people eat out or eat store bought ramen and microwave food. People drink every weekend so they can escape from their depressing reality, fueling their negative lifestyle.
Third world countries don't have these problems. They do have problems that the west don't have though. Grass is always greener on the other side I guess. The best you can do is educate yourself and teach your children what you've learned yourself. There is no easy solution to this problem and it mostly boils down to personal responsibility and willpower.

This. It's physically easy. Easiest recipe in the world. But psychologically, you're going to have to fight against years of ingrained eating habits. Even if you do manage to lose the weight, your past eating habits will still creep upon you and tug at your shirt. We're only human, so it's natural to give in to temptation.

I'm not saying it's an excuse but having a career, family, maybe a dog means you have maybe 5 minutes per day to think about food. It's easier to just get something pre-made then. Don't blame the person, blame society. 50 years ago the wives cooked for their men, today you need 2 incomes just to buy a shitty apartment.
I exclusively eat microwaved food, and drink soda, and am in the lower range of normal BMI. Do you know how I'm not even close to obese, without ever needing to touch an oven? By simply not shoving what must by unbelievably high amounts of food into myself, more than what could possiblt be misconstrued as a reasonable-sized meal for any of the three meals a day. Weight is calories in, calories out, you don't even need to try to be particularily healthy (the standard microwaved dinner has meat, vegetables, and grain in it), or put any effort in, just don't choose to eat more than reasonable.
So are you telling me that if I follow CICO I can eat nothing but tuna mayo sandwiches and I won't get fat?

1. Addiction. It's like telling a smoker to just stop, the body will initially react violently to being cut off. That's why almost 100% of diets fail within the first 14 days.
2. Unhealthy relationship with food, even if not outright an ED. Basically all fatties eat to feel better when they're feeling down, when bored, to socialize, you name it. That's also why they always go on the tangent of "Well SHE eats what she wants and stays thin, I eat what I want and my weight starts with a 2!", they aren't capable of seeing that a healthy person doesnt WANT to eat as much as they do. Food, particularly junkfood, is comfort for them.

Fricked up hunger signals is what gets me. If I'm not distracted or busy 100% of the day I'm hungry like an African. I tried fasting for 3+ days and worked myself down to 600 cal/day average for a month straight. Stayed active with at least a 1 hour walk every day. I feel no difference between starving in auchwitz hunger and degenerate fatty hunger 30 minutes after a 1000 calorie meal. My life is hunger and all I can do is strengthen my will against the most forceful and primal urge in any living creature. When I make it, I will have the willpower of a king
It's a long term thing and a lot of people can't think that way, it takes so long to get visible results that people give up. Delayed satisfaction is a lost virtue.
