They probably think she looks like that because of a medical condition but what's really happening is that they feel comfortable going there where they won't be the fattest ugliest loser. We all feel out of place sometimes. It can be intimidating going to a serious gym if you don't know what you're doing. If you do then imagine going to a rock climbing gym or learning to swim correctly in front of people or something. That anxiety is what the advertisement preys on. The most effective thing they can do to get customers is to say that you won't be the gym moron because they already have one.

there are different types of gyms. You've got puregyms and other chain gyms which is your standard norf fc new years resolution moron gym which are always overcrowded. You also have local gyms which is where you'll find a mix of serious lifters and deanos. Deanos are usually either very friendly or extremely arrogant, nothing in-between. Most people just mind their own at the gyms here though

PureGym motivated me to build a home gym. Every day I had to put up with pajeets/pakis not able to use weights or equipment correctly and crowding/hogging machines.
likewise, I knew it was over when I went to puregym at 1 am specifically to avoid having to wait for equipment and there were like 20 or 30 Indian guys spread put over all the equipment
There are loads of asian men at my gym constantly doing some hilarious prayer exercise. They put a mat down in front of a cable tower with a two handed rope attachment, get on their knees and pull all the way to the floor like they are training to pray really hard for Allah. It's only the Asian men who do it. They're usually pretty cool though.
There's usually a number of fit slags in incredibly revealing clothes for a cheeky glance and a test boost. It's mainly men though at least where the weights are. Cardio stuff skews more towards women and 'normal' looking girls, all the hot ones are doing lower body weightlifting.
Most guys in general are really nice, will ask if you're done with equipment etc/happy to let you know when they're done etc. A mix of deanos/zoomers/boomers. Couple of obvious roiders.
This is at a nuffield health which is probably a tier above pure gym etc.
