Weight on gloves means jack shit. Higher weights doesn't mean you're some anime character taking off training weights. It just means more padding to protect your opponent. 2oz will have basically no effect on your speed or power. Lighter weights are just for fights where you want less padding and more knockout power.
If you're going for knockouts and power in training, you're both moronic and won't get better, as well as a terrible teammate who everyone hates sparring.

I've used all sizes. My current for muay thai/boxing is somewhere between 18-20oz. No clue what my mma gloves, but they're puff gloves for training. In the case you use basically the equivalent of a leather strap that goes over your wraps. I honestly don't see much of a difference besides how clunky they are to grapple/clinch with as they get bigger. I'm sure it makes a difference in the ring when you're going 100% and the extra weight stops you from getting that snap for a good flash knockout, but not when sparring when you shouldn't be going that hard and you're just focusing on technique and speed.

This is about 25 pounds ago when cutting for a 170 fight. I'm 6'3. I don't take many pics.
I've used all kinds of gloves, and don't really care to spend tons of money on multiple sets for different sports. Also I don't really box unless the guy I'm sparring with requests it. Again, if you're sparring like you should, it doesn't really matter which you use. When you fight, promotions provide you with a pair. The gear you use matters far less than the effort you put in. You remind me of some lifter basedjacking over straps and sleeves and gloves and all this shit. Just fricking spar. In Thailand they kick fricking trees and make 5$ a day. They don't care about a tiny bit more padding on the sides to block kicks.

And strength doesn't have anything to do with preferring smaller gloves for bagwork. It's called FEEDBACK. 16oz gloves have none at all.
Yeah it can feel quite awkward. 16oz are still good for bagwork if you've only got one pair of gloves. But if 12oz and 16oz are both available there's no reason to not use the smaller gloves.
I also focus on mma, which most of my fights are. So I use mma gloves if I do hit the bag. Don't listen to homosexuals who call people out then refuse to post body back.
Honestly the first argument here that makes sense. I don't really do bagwork outside of kicks, so I don't really focus on gloves for that. But I can understand wanting the feedback.

16oz is standard for sparring , unless maybe for women and children who can get away with 14oz . If someone is using more than 16 they are a fatty lol
Is anyone who isn't a 5'4 twink a fatty to you? Sparring can be anywhere between 16-20. Not really any standard unless youre autistic about rules and what people "should" be using. There's nothing stopping a 140 pounder from using 18 oz gloves if they feel comfortable on them.
