No the weight of the bar fluctuates with the temperature and whether or not you peed that day .
Over a week benching the same bar and same plates you'll never actually push the same weight twice. A possible variation of 2.5lbs
> being this moronic
No the weight doesn't fluctuate with temperature you fricking mongoloid. Density does but it doesn't matter, the weight is the same. Also amount of piss in your body also OBVIOUSLY doesn't influence the weight of ANOTHER OBJECT.
At most you could argue about dust and moisture but even that, especially if you come when there are similar amount of people doing bench and in general. But it obviously fricking wouldn't be up to 2.5 lbs.
Also. LET'S SAY YOUR moronic BS IS CORRECT.
Guess what fricktard? ON AVERAGE it would still cancel out but a constant addition of a 2.5lbs or whatever plate would shift that average up.
I agree. If you are just started you don't really need them. They are for situations where you have already plato'd so you need something very light to be able to make progress
Nah he is right I am an esl. I completely forgot the word has french origins. It's plato in my native language so it was a double trap for me
I think the ESL meme is stupid >haha you're speaking a langauge that is at least your second language unlike I who speaks just one and misspell shit all the time

Almost never. If you're using periodization or any kind of boredom breaking stuff. But if you're just going as far as you can with none of that stuff yeah. You're not going to be testing if you can add weight all that often to begin with by the time they're useful
This but also not this.. Sometimes the %'s just end up in a way that you need microplates to get the x total weight. Sure you could just put less weight or more to hit that even number since you are working in the 70-80% RPE but yeah. I rarely need them to test if I can add weight and bench it. I test my maxes generally once every 4-6 weeks period.
I'd get them for DB exercises like laterals but my gym's DB's have a rubberized surface. If your gym has bought their DB's in the past two decades it's unlikely they'll have an iron surface.
absolutely crucial for overhead press and bench to some extent. once you get to the point where microplates would be a necessity for squats and deadlifts, you should probably start to program them in some way other than linear progression
Sometimes a 5 pound jump is just too much. In my home gym I had a bunch of weird plates like 5.5s, 11s, and 22s so I could mix and match them to get a 1-3 pound jump. It helped be blast through my bench plateau.
I recently returned to a commercial gym. I'm thinking the way to get around not having micros is to vary weight within a set. For example:
Week 1: 3x5 at 205
Week 2: 1x5 at 210; 2x5 at 205
Week 3: 2x5 at 210; 1x5 at 205
Week 4: 3x5 at 210.
I haven't tested it yet but I assume it will work.
>Microplates are the only reason I got to a 2pl8 bench. 2.5 lb increments was life changing
homie wtf? what shitty program are you running bc you can legit get to 2pl8 within 6 months of doing SS
Most of the time you don't need more than 1.25 lb pl8s. Though if you have olympic barbells and do lateral raises, you might be able to do progressive overload with them.
Only if you're late intermediate or advanced in my experience

Yes if you lift for strength, no if you lift for size.

for my cable lateral raise, yes
GAAAAAY
Anything less than 1kg plates are a larp to make guys think they're progressing and argue with your mother about it if you're using them
I use them for progressing OHP and curls
absolutely crucial for overhead press and bench to some extent. once you get to the point where microplates would be a necessity for squats and deadlifts, you should probably start to program them in some way other than linear progression
They're really useful for progressing exercises like chest flys, lateral raises etc where 5lbs is a gigantic increase.
I just add an extra collar to the bar if need be.
Play a record you Manc twat.

Show us your 2pl8 bench Mark
Not him but not everyone starts as a fat manlet. Skinny tall guys struggle with it.
1.25 lb micros are nice
put those micro plates on your micro penis
i only go up by intervals of 25 pounds i dont even touch the 5's or 10's

for upper body movements yea
