    if you do a set to failure like he prescribes, you will trigger muscle growth. all other sets are just cope. I've tried about every workout imaginable - 5x5, 3x10, strength training, hypertrophy, periodization, you name it. nothing compares to 1 set of 6-9 reps where you perform a static hold of the weight for 2 seconds and control the eccentric portion of the lift for 4 seconds.

      i would say heavy controlled eccentric is key here. basic reason why cheat curls done right work like nothing else. reasonably cheat it up and lower slooowly. much better gains than pump stuff or normal sets.

      volume gives sarcoplasm and possibly inflammatory swelling. upping reps gives quick gains and quick plateau. for honest and sustained growth you need tension. pump fluff gives like last 20% of size from sarcoplasm.

    Or you could listen to the youtube science guy and try to guess two reps away from failure, spend ages in the gym, spend more days in the gym, and have inferior progress.
