At the moment I can only do 3-4 clean muscle ups (ie not kipping or swinging etc).
How can I bring this number up? Should I do resistance band muscle ups, do sets of 3 muscle ups, or do a bunch of pull ups?

Everyone at the gym is watching you bro. Those muscle ups are super cool bro. Everyone thinks its cool bro.
Theyre actually useful.
I’m not moronic enough to do them at the gym, I know that’s c**ty.
Pussy
homosexual
Based
Go for glory
Balls out
When I do these in the gym I inspire a bunch of bros to come over and it becomes an exciting contest where friends are made and 'mires are earned. You could literally get laid just by doing this in public.
You pussed out wtf
>c**ty.
fricking Australians, seethe worse than Indians. Crabs in a bucket mentality
>Everyone at the gym is watching you bro. Those muscle ups are super cool bro. Everyone thinks its cool bro.
Unironically though.
I saw a guy doing muscle ups in my gym the other day and he looked super cool. All the chicks were mirin too.
Need to work up to bring able to do them myself.
Personally, I agree. Way cooler than whatever's on my phone. This poster is probably obese.
>fat frick triggered
nobody asked for your opinion, lardass
nice b8
this but unironically. the amount of high fives and fistbumps i got from both men and women after doing muscle-ups is unparalled. nobody gave a frick about my low bodyfat, muscles, compound lifts, not a fricking single glimpse but muscle-ups made me ascend into main character of my gym.
I don’t value the opinion of others . This is a trait men with low self esteem and women have
Overhand fingerless grip. This will make your wrist and forearms tough as frick.
Add in silly willy fluff reps that are assisted by jump and kip.
I have tried to compensate by doing 20+ pullups but thats fricking gay and worthless. I have had more luck doing cleans really focusing on that shoulder turn.
Why do this instead of regular pull ups or chin ups?
Stabilizer training, gymnastics training, functional strength training. Free mires. Pull ups and dips are boring
Because we're not fat gay sodomites here begging for justification chasing after only joy
Power
Stamina
If you need to overcome a ledge with no leg assist what do you do?
This exercise maxes out your punching power athleticism just short of karate drills.
good all around warm up once you can do them controlled
i do them before hitting weighted chins (+90 pounds for 8)
I highly doubt you're doing muscle ups without swinging and kipping yet still asking such a stupid question. A strict muscle up with 0 swing is already godlike. You'd be well into advanced training to get there.
Post form?
No true muscle upper fallacy
No I can’t do the super slow ones that professional gymnasts do. By not swinging I mean not flopping around like the crossfit muscle up. But my legs do remain straight, that’s not a lie.
Kipping is valid for getting a few extra reps out at the end of a set or the end of the session. It's essentially just the same as assisted reps with a resistance band, arguably a bit better in that it encourages explosivity but arguably worse in regards to the less control/precision. If you do add in kipping reps then make sure there's a clear distinction between good, controlled reps and kipping - don't let yourself gradually slide from one to the other as you become more tired, that just ingrains bad habits.
Other than that
>Sets of three
>Negative reps
>Accessory exercises especially weighted pullups
You could kip and get 8
Realistically. Resistance band muscle ups are the end of your set might help you build more strength. Or you can just keep doing muscle ups and eventually progress. Doing muscle ups twice a week would also help
You're looking for a 20-25% increase. That's a lot. You're gonna have to do something with the same muscles but finer loading increments, ie regular pullups.
Cheating the reps will accomplish nothing. People who do it can't even do one cleanly and shouldn't try to advise those who can.
>People who do it can't even do one cleanly and shouldn't try to advise those who can.
Funny I dont see your proof of "can do one"
Okay. And?
So i will not be listening to you. Sorry!
Your loss. You could stand to learn how to not look like a pile of dogshit if you did listen.
Hmmm I don't see a body post. Must of failed to upload. You can always repost and reupload your body pic!
>Cheating the reps will accomplish nothing
It can be very beneficial if you push yourself to the limit while cheating
the progression would be less and less cheating
Eternally mogged
Nah. She's a beast and is better than me. I eternally mog you though
>Nah, but yeah
kek dumb Black person
I can't get my elbows over the bar unless I kip. Guys can you spoonfeed me some fricking help here? I climb and can do 15~ pullups overhand but I can't do this shit to save my frickin life, i have to kip like this dude
.
She's using a special grip called false grip. It's not a standard grip, and it does take time to practice. It's insanely harsh on your wrists.
Google false grip progression and you'll see what I mean.
I feel like if I tried that grip I still couldn't do that.
Well that's the only way you'll ever do what she's doing. If it's a lack of strength, try pulldowns. That's all a muscle up really is, just a big pulldown
Nah. What she is doing is impressive. But it doesn't mog me.
>Nah. What she is doing is impressive. But it doesn't mog me.
oh whew I was worried you were some kind of dyel but thanks for re-assuring me.
I'll probably just ask someone at the fricking climbing gym wtf am I doing asking you guys lmao what got into me
>She is better than me
>But she doesnt mog me
kek dumb Black person
she can get my muscle up, if you know what I'm sayin
>At the moment I can only do 3-4 clean muscle ups (ie not kipping or swinging etc).
okay
>How can I bring this number up?
keep doing them. do you not understand how muscle growth works?
Get a belt and keep adding 2.5-5lb plates until you can't do it with proper form. Then break form and keep going anyways.
I’ll try weighted muscle ups at some point
Muscle ups are a fake exercise everyone made up just to frick with me. It's not possible. I can do 15 pullups and I can't get the bar further than my chest. The movement where you go from a pullup to being above the bar and pressing is not possible.
I see people ''doing'' them and it just goes from a normal pullup and then snaps to them doing a muscle up. It's all made up just to frick with me.
just throw your body. you can kip your way up there easily if you can do 15 pullups, if you can stomache cheating.
>if you can stomache cheating.
This is the most hilarious cope. You can't do a muscle up, even with kipping. So now kipping is akin to cheating on your girlfriend (which you don't have one either). Bro. Just admit you're ass. Stop beating around the bush.
>all this ad hominem for nothing
wow sensitive!
I agree; if you kip, it ain't a muscle up. It's basically why I was asking for tips on how to actually do a muscle up instead of just kipping (cheating) like this guy;
I get nothing out of doing this stupid, gay homosexual shit. I wanna do it real like
>I wanna do it real like
Eternally mogged #
We have already told you. False grip and get stronger
I did it with a kip and I can get the bar to my balls. Whatever muscle I need to do the muscle up doesn't exist. It's not like it's hard and I fail, I can't find any muscle that could perform such a movement. I can kip the bar to my balls and then I just fall all the way down.
Are you starting off diagonally?
You need to start diagonally then when your body is swinging back to neutral, that's when you pull up. The combination of the return swing to neutral, plus the pulldown (it's a pull down NOT A PULL UP) is what causes your body to go around and over the bar
Look at me here
and pic related. Your starting position should be in front of the bar. If you're starting from underneath the bar, you have 0 rotational energy, which is what makes you fail the muscle up
Look into "false grip"
Rings, isometric and static exercises. You want your muscles to become stronger at holding positions rather than lifting a weight to a position. Most people fail at muscle ups due to a lack of stamina and not strength.
I have been stuck on 5 for a year now. Seems like I can't manage to get any more strength resistance. First two are always easy as shit, but next ones start to feel 30% more challenging than the last.
