Cold showers aren't usually long enough or concentrated enough to have any effect on your gains unless you're standing there blasting the specific muscles worked for minutes on end, but cold water submersion after training will absolutely kill your gains, as will doing anything that reduces inflammation (taking anti inflammatories, vitamin C, etc).
Any and all of these things should be done before work out, not after. Ideally first thing in the morning. Ignore any and all "muh e celeb" well-poisoners.
