my cousin who goes to the gym just to do accessories etc. , has never done powerlifting tried deadlifting earlier.

my cousin who goes to the gym just to do accessories etc. , has never done powerlifting tried deadlifting earlier. she managed to deadlift 70kg (she is female, 50kg) and did it 5 reps completing the set. How does that happen??????? (I'm slightly lighter than her, 47kg) She also manages to squat heavier than i do. I squat 60 for top set, she can do 70 probs but i can bench significantly more than her.

is it a genetic thing? clearly not since we are related.
i love her to oblivion and i want her to succeed in everything she does but kind of feels bad. Maybe powerlifting isnt for me

also is an 85kg paused dl a heavy lift for a female?

Maybe she has better leverages and plus her extra 3kgs contribute to her being stronger

shes just more athletic than you
go to the gym more and/or do more volume work since it sounds like youre just starting
do a lot of slow paused reps when warming up and transition into speed work during warmup

I always feel a little bad for the women at my gym who train legs more than I do because I show up and warm up with a weight that would snap them and then they get to see all of the people run up to compliment me and all kinds of shit when im gonna spend half the time they do at the gym on leg day and only do it once a week. It must be terrible to always be mediocre no matter how much effort you put forward.

    >DLing nearly her bodyweight
Doing DLs can be a bit easy if you're new since improper form can let you essentially shrug some of the weight.
It also helps if she has
    >Longer forearms (less effort to crouch down)
    >A very strong lower back or core

    >She can squat more but you bench more
If your bicep are bigger than your forearm, you're upper body dominant and vice versa. Bench takes longer to develop anyway

Don't compare yourself to other people. Compare yourself to your former self. Are you stronger and fitter than you were several months ago? If yes, you're winning. Getting hung up over other people is destructive thinking that will sabotage your progress.

I think you need to be realistic about your goals in lifting as a woman. 85kg deadlift is not impressive at all. I could do that when I was 16 and weighed 55kg and stick thin, my scrawny af 5'10 60kg friend could pick that off the floor after 1 month of training.
Be realistic about your goals and expectations of strength as a female and don't compare yourself to anybody else. Whether it's normal that your cousin teaches certain numbers doesn't matter because she isn't you.
There's many factors that could explain why your cousin could deadlift what she did. The main one is leverages. Leg length, especially the shins, arm length, the way her hips bend and her glutes activate all play a role. If she can squat more than you after training less it probably means she has shorter femurs or more advantageous leverages for hip hinges and knee flexions. It's just genetics and nothing to worry about because you can't change that.
Just worry about pushing yourself and you'll be fine.

i know a tiny girl that deadlifted like 75kg the second time she tried, but she used to ride horses which is probably where her strength comes from

machines, dumbells, etc still do build muscle. sure she might not have adaptations for fully utilizing that muscle for doing free weight but the raw muscle mass allows her to do that much. once her body actually learns the movement her freeweight lifts will skyrocket too. but you really shouldn't compare yourself to others anyway.

if you enjoy doing powerlifts then keep doing them. if you do them just because "I wanna be le heckin stronk powersharter" then sure keep doing them but keep different training modalities an option too. however if you really don't enjoy them and only do them because fat texan milktoad told you to, you can just look more into what are your goals and do other lifts that you might enjoy more. as long as you lift with intent and progression plan, you are golden. whether it is a squat rack or leg press/hack squat machine.
