My doctor told me not to fast as I'll go into starvation mode and not lose any weight, and that I should take a slow approach of cutting to 1800cals each day instead. Is he right or a moron?

Ah the famed starvation mode. It's a shame your doctor wasn't there during the holodomor, the great Chinese famine or all of African history. He literally could've saved millions just by telling them to go into starvation mode. We should actually stop all foreign aid and send your doctor to inform the poorgays of starvation mode, it would be a win win. Save money and lives, right?

Doesnt really matter, youll lose weight with that calorie intake unless youre a turbo manlet

He's a moron, eat a species appropriate diet to satiation and your body composition will naturally be whatever is genetically determined to be.

Probably a moron. I'm not a doctor but whenever I'm dieting, I eat 1500 calories all in one meal per day, and I don't even take a slow approach to it - I just immediately cut calorie intake to 1500. My weight drops like a rock (2lb / 1kg) whenever I do it.

I did 48hr fasts on top of calorie restrictions and it helped me go from 220lbs to 170lbs.

Most doctors are drooling morons. They barely know what they're specialized in, and act like they know everything they don't.
He's not a dietician, he should stay in his fricking lane.

you're gonna lose weight fasting but you're also gonna lose a lot of muscle. I'd also argue it makes it harder to keep the weight off since you aren't actually practicing a sustainable diet/exercise routine. 1-2 lbs a week is ideal for those reasons.

with that said if you're super obese and never lifted before then yeah, fast, but if you've been lifting for awhile it's not worth it.

      >you're also gonna lose a lot of muscle
False. You will lose very little if you just keep exercising them while fasting - assuming Intermittent fasting, not long-term.

I mean of course intermittent fasting on a daily basis won't affect things negatively, I'm arguing against long term fasting or doing some suicide 500 cal a day type diet

    Starvation mode is not real
People think they’re gonna skip 1 meal and their body goes into “… le starvation mode” whatever the frick that means

Doctors don’t know anything about nutrition.
Fasting is the ultimate weight control method.

general practitioners are morons, they know a very small amount about a lot of subjects. it's their job to decide which specialist you speak to next, not make decisions for you.
speak to a sports physician instead, not a dietician or nutritionist, a sports physician.

Who knew that working overtime at a hospital and going to med school full-time leads to an unhealthy lifestyle?
Hate how romanticized the profession of "doctor" is. Once you "make it" you have ruined your body after not exercising for over a decade and getting zero sleep

          >”no goy, you shouldnt lift more than 2x a week”
          >”no goy, you shouldnt lose weight and fix your diet to get healthy, here’s so pharmajewitcals instead”
i understand why most doctors are dyel out of shape gays but it’s just laughable and honestly pathetic the opinions they have regarding fitness.

You're more likely to go into starvation mode from dieting than fasting. Caloric deficit for 1-2 days a week vs 6-7

How fast is too fast? I'm losing on estimate 1.9lbs per week. I don't feel like I'm in "starvation mode"
