I went through this with my now ex. We got together and she gained like 35lbs in a year. Eventually I put my foot down. She was so angry I would dare bring it up. Eventually we broke up over ii. We got back together a few months later. She had gained even more weight. After a month or two honeymoon period I basically said I loved her but if she wanted a future with me (she did) she was gonna have to lose the weight and get back to what she weighed when we first met. It took a month of difficulty but eventually she started cutting calories and surprise surprise, every month she’d be excited to tell me the areas she noticed she was losing weight. This despite claiming she just had a different body type and was happy with her body as is and “not all people can lose weight”.
I still had to ride her ass about it though, because one month I went easy on her and she gained two pounds back. Now that we broke up again I would be very surprised if she wasn’t gaining again. Il beginning to believe that if someone is ever overweight, that automatically disqualifies them as a potential long term partner.
Be kind, be loving, make sure she knows you’re not superficial and still love her. But put your foot down and it’s good you’re doing this sooner rather than later.
