NEWSFLASH:

NEWSFLASH:
Unless you're competing in Strongman or Powerlifting or engaging in the community you are NOT "lifting for strength", you are lifting for aesthetics.
"Nah bro I ain't, I ain't shallow like that I'm just lifting for strength all for myself all for my lonesome I don't care if I look like shit."
So you're either moronic and doing something pointless or you're coping and lifting for aesthetics badly? Got'cha.

This whole "holier than thou" outlook from "strength or powerlifters" to people who lift for aesthetics is fricking moronic.
The only way I'll accept the "I'm just lifting for strength all for myself." excuse if you're that special brand of cool autist that enjoys "number go up".

Not OP but people waste their prime years being a fatfrick because of this delusion. Alan Thrall himself admitted to falling victim to this mentality in a recent video

It’s a massive trap that many guys fall into and forget their original goals, greatly reducing the potential increase on the quality of life they could have

I don't really agree that guys who don't compete can't train for strength, but yea it's all just vanity at the end of the day. Even if you're training to do well in a sport you're just trying to feed your ego in a different way than bodybuilders

So you basically admit you have never done any physical labor in your life? I literally helped my grandma regain the ability to walk by lifting her, stabilizing her and giving her the security she needed to trust her legs. I couldn't have done that if I hadn't lifted weights.

You wouldn't be able to lift an elderly lady if you didn't lift? I mean that's kudos to you for putting in the work, but pretty unusual even for a dyel

People have this problem with accepting that they like shallow stuff because of how "intelectual" media (basically nerds and outcasts who got lucky in Hollywood) that always portrays beauty as unimportant. Every fricking Netflix movie about a teen who is "different from others" and "books are better than looks" making everyone think that trying to make your life easier/more pleasant is worthless because it is superficial

      this.

Beauty is a form of Genius--is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation. It is one of the great facts of the world, like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in the dark waters of that silver shell we call the moon. It cannot be questioned. It has divine right of sovereignty. It makes princes of those who have it.

"Training for strength" is an excuse for letting yourself become fat. There's not a single reason why "strength training" wouldn't result to an aesthetic physique for someone who is 12% bodyfat.

    Sounds like weakgay cope.

I lift for strength. I do not compete. I do not find it necessary to justify my actions.

That's bullshit. All you pseudo-powershitter types do is try to justify yourselves and your fatness. If you weren't trying to justify yourselves 24/7 the internet's fitness culture wouldn't have stagnated for the past 10 years in the quagmire of all of your coping and seething.

...and I won't stop "lifting for strength" until I can bench more than pic related which shouldn't take too much longer inshallah

Come on man this thread is transparent. You're really just trying to justify looking like shit because muh heckin strength. All while neglecting the strongmen of lore weren't fat, nor were the powerlifters. Look up Bruno Sammartino, who held the bench press record back in the '50s or something. Then compare his aesthetic to the bench press record holder today. The difference is night and day. The reality is that the sport you champion so much for strength was originally founded as a COMPLEMENT to aesthetics. This thread of yours is effectively just trying to bully people into either no longer lifting or becoming fat. Which really should give you pause: why are you pushing that?

    broad generalization

The most immediate positive consequence of working out, is the wienertail of happy hormones that your body release.

Then, it's the improvement of your ability to move an manipulate objects. Which is fun.

Third, and long term, your body's appearance will change.

There are a lot of good reasons to do it, before you even get to the aesthetic results. It is a fulfilling activity, you are just narrowing down your sight to match some hate backed rant.

Frick yeah bro, getting my deadlift number go up and slam these weight to make me feel like the big boy in the room is the funnest shit about lifting. I don't deny that I also lift to look good but challenging myself to lift heavier weights on compound exercices is such a blast

Fully agree. That is why I do a minimalist home workout.

    Day A:
    weighted pullups
    weighted ring pushups
    bicep curls

    Day B:
    weighted chinups
    weighted dips
    bicep curls

At least one day rest between each session. Usually workout every other day.

I lift so that i dont snap my shit up picking up a heavy box or doing some mundane bullshit. It feelsgood to be able to help older ladies perform tasks and move up and down flights of stairs with relative ease. I wish lifting was enough to look good but for me it requires more attention to diet and not drinking beer, which aint happening anytime soon.
