      MORE WEIGHT

Pull ups (weighted if possible) and hold on the top.

You’re not supposed to feel your back that much the nerves are much less sensitive because you lay on it a lot. Just make sure you’re moving more weight over time in pull-ups and rows and your back will be bigger.

If you don't feel it you're either
    >not able to lift heavy enough. You can't feel muscle that's not there. like when new can't feel their chest contract on bench
    >lifting wrong and using secondary muscles to overcompensate and finish the lift
    >you're lifting to heavy causing the same issues described above
drop the weight and do the movement properly. You might have been training yourself to do a movement wrong for a long time. Failing all else do a bit of a cheat rep, contract hard and release slow. the aim of the game is not just get the weight up and down, it's fighting gravity.

Barbell rows and actually use the back muscles, don't just lift with your arms

Super high volume pullups. Do like 20 sets of 10 and tell me you aren't sore after that.

He’s just gonna use his biceps and forearms to pull himself up. Pullups won’t teach someone how to use their back muscles if they lack that mind muscle connection. It’s too easy to cheat on.

Best advice I got from a video was imagining your arm as a prosthetic from the elbow up. This only job of the job is the hold the weight you’re pulling. Pull directly from the elbows.

I don't understand this "lifting with arms" thing when doing barbell rows. I mean, if the humerus travels towards the back, close to the body, what other muscle can lift that much weight if not the lats? Anyone care to explain?

It's a mindset with a specific form really, that's all "try not lifting with arms" means. Good form and think about using above the elbow helped me a good amount so I get the idea of what it's trying to say (I think). I noticed a large difference in my back burning with rows especially.

    pendlay rows
    weighted wide grip pullups
read about supinated pulldowns on here - resulted in a lat cramp so I keep on doing them

what would you fellas recommend as a good back workout? I do 3 sets of pull-ups until failure, 4 sets of pulldowns until failure, 3 sets of barbell rows, and 3 sets of deadlifts. can’t feel my back worked for shit from any of them though

What's the muscle between the posterior deltoid and the rhomboid major?

as your picture has just shown, the back is multiple muscles.

Rear delt is easy af to make burn, just hit the cables or a fly machine and go really high reps until failure with short rest periods.

Upper traps are easy too, high volume and bring them to failure, after failure you can make them burn further just by rolling your shoulders forward and stretching them under load. The major limiter for your trap burn will be your grip failing.

I think its better to think of the lats as two different muscles, the upper lats and the lower lats should be thought of as two distinct areas to get the best results. Your image of the back is wrong, the lats tie in to the shoulder.
You need to do a movement when you are pulling from above and down for the upper lats, a move where your pulling towards you horizontally for general lat development, and a move where your abducting your arms towards yourself.

Getting a burn on your lats is all about good mind muscle connection and finding exercises where you can get in a good position to reach a full concentrated contraction and deep stretch.

After about a years of not much back growth. My back really started going off when I switch some things up and moved shrugs and rear delts to shoulder day and mixed my grips up doing the remaining lat/row work, be sure to keep your chest puffed out:
    >supinated grip lat pulldowns
    >pronated machine rows
    >neutral grip cable rows
    >cable pullovers with a wide grip on an ez bar
    >also 3x5 deadlift at close to max at the start
Only a couple months in and I'm finally seeing some results, still have a way to go, but I got lat doms for the first week and they just feel "worked" after each back day now
idk hopes this helps any anons out, worked for me.
