i find that writing down the constant thoughts of suicide and self harm help stave off the impulses. kind of like writing an angry letter but never sending it. if someone ever found my notebook, i would without a doubt be committed for psychiatric evaluation due to suicidal ideation and concerns of self harm

I write down my weight, what foods I've eaten, and what exercises/lifting I've done that day. It's called a journal, you can use a notebook but the process is called journaling. It allows me to track progres the old fashioned way. It also allows me to plan the next day or set. By flipping back one page I can see what my last set weight was and add 5 or 10lbs to the bar.

Hey, I use a notebook. Ofc it’s for writing down exercise, sets and reps plus anything else noteworthy. This is to track and ensure progress

I use a plaintext program on phone to log lifts. Sets, reps, whether I finished the set, point of failure if I did, any pains I had, how easy/hard it felt, etc

Commiting things to memory is for people who are not as smart as they think they are.

I write down my weights and my reps so that way when I'm in the gym I can just entirely focus on doing my exercises and let my mind wander 🙂
I don't have to think at all, just lift like you said 😀

I do the same. It's much easier to see progress and make adjustments if needed.

there's absolutely no way a le based retvrn to tradition notebook allows for as much analysis as even just a spreadsheet. why hamstring your ability to interpret your training data

    >he doesn't record his lifts
    >he doesn't track his progress week after week to see gains
    >he doesn't write things down so he can go back and see what he did last time and how much he needs to improve
Most of this board would greatly benefit from tracking progress that way you can see that you've been benching 1pl8 for 4 straight months and you'll know why you can't make any gains.
