It's true that some staples like bread, cheese are still at least somewhat accessible but take it from a French person who eats very clean and somewhat ''niche'' French food of fermented/pro-biotic, high quality foods, most of the standard household food items have increased in price, if anything the ''real good'' stuff seems like better ROI for the price now.

I've noticed this. The developed world seems to be bifurcating into enormous fat fricks and really fit people with nothing in between, the former outnumberingthe latter of course. Even my mom noticed this, and she pointed out that there weren't any guys she knew back in the 70s/80s with large traps (not sure why traps in particular)
