i believe he’s referring to carbs lowering cortisol, seeing as cortisol is supposed to be at its lowest before bed time so melatonin secretion occurs and you can fall asleep with ease & without disruptions. stimulants and stress and lack of sleep contribute to higher levels of cortisol which suppresses melatonin production and leads to sleep issues

Right but I can promise you it's not my diet. Like I said it started when I sobered up and I've tried many different things and been through different diets. Even took melatonin which seemed to have zero effect. You know what helps? Not being sober.

this is why you eat a pintance of choccy b4 bed for sweat dreams; Carmel and even neco wafers will suffice

nta but not having enough sugar in your diet will absolutely frick up your sleep
            >i believe he’s referring to carbs lowering cortisol
fricking cortisol? you dumb motherfricker, don't weigh in on shit you know nothing about

your body uses stored glycogen for energy while you sleep, which is primarily gained from carbs
            >As a meal containing carbohydrates or protein is eaten and digested, blood glucose levels rise, and the pancreas secretes insulin. Blood glucose from the portal vein enters liver cells (hepatocytes). Insulin acts on the hepatocytes to stimulate the action of several enzymes, including glycogen synthase. Glucose molecules are added to the chains of glycogen as long as both insulin and glucose remain plentiful. In this postprandial or "fed" state, the liver takes in more glucose from the blood than it releases.

when your glycogen stores run out while you're asleep (say, because you're a fricking moron who stopped eating carbs because some israelite "doctor" on youtube told you to) then your body spikes cortisol to basically tell you to wake the frick up and go eat some berries
            >To carry out its essential overnight repairs and cell rejuvenation, your body uses energy in the form of glycogen which is stored in the liver. During the night, these glycogen stores get depleted at a rate of 10g per hour, of which 65 per cent is used by the brain.
            >If this energy supply runs out, the liver send stress signals to the brain in the form of the hormone cortisol, alerting it to wake up until sufficient levels are restored. This process can result in broken sleep, which you may not even be aware of, but can often leave you feeling tired and lacking in energy the following day.
why the FRICK is IST the most embarrassingly ignorant board when it comes to basic biomechanics? there's more to maintaining your body than lifting, you fricking morons
            read a BOOK

Sleeping doesnt do anything for me anymore ever since i became a machine i dont feel tired so i dont get the relief from not being tired anymore when i wake up so i never sleep because why would i.
I cant consune drugs anymore either.
But i think im happier now without those thinga because i no longer need to think about existential dread i no longer have a lifespan.

This is really dumb but I suffered from awful nightly sleep for a very long time and I was advised it might be because I take all my vitamins, specifically my Vitamin D supplements at night as Vitamin D inhibits melatonin production (this makes perfect sense).

So I stopped taking them at night and yeah I sleep a lot better. I still wake up very early but I'm usually drowsy enough to drift off back to sleep. Before, when I was taking my D at night I'd be wide awake at 4 in the morning.

funny, my mom says taking D at night helps knock her out to a sleepy slumber

Interesting...I do think Vitamin D is a big reason as to why I'm waking up so alert, there's also other factors at play for my improved sleep.

        >I started taking a scoop of beef gelatin powder every other night or so unless I am eating beef or steak for dinner (high in glycine, helps with REM sleep).
        >Often will drink snoozy time tea before bed which does make me drowsy (but sometimes makes me have to piss in the middle of the night
        >I stopped reaching for my phone if I wake up in the middle of the night.
        >Probably most importantly, I've had a lot of stress in my life lately (both external and self imposed) and that's died down significantly in the past couple of weeks.

We have a weighted blanket and I like it but honestly it's not big enough. I would need the coverage to be "even" for it to work.

I'm a bit older than you but 35 was the age things started going south as far as sleep quality.

I still have trouble sleeping but yes. I'm so sensitive to stimulants I cannot drink coffee past 10. And actually I drink gree tea instead now. I read coffee has something in it that tea doesn't which is also known to increase anxiety

That sucks. I can drink a coffee in the evening and I can still drift off to sleep pretty easily. Soft drinks keep me up though for some reason.

    When does that happen?
I'm 31 and I absolutely hate sleeping. I hate having to go to bed and I hate having to wake up. I hate when I don't sleep enough and I hate when I sleep too much. Even when I get the perfect amount, I still feel unsatisfied because it meant I had to sacrifice time and effort to get to bed at the correct time.
I wish I could stay awake forever but alas, the flesh is weak.
