I did one once and fricked my elbow for months
Finished the rep tho
Glass elbow, lmao.
fit has everyone from glass backs to glass wrists, to glass ankles to glass elbows.
Sheesh.
Not him, but some exercises are just risky to perform, especially some calisthenics exercises if you're heavy and/or tall.
I do arm wrestling and it's just easy to snap your shit up with some exercises.
>IST is one guy
>t. glass brain
you will never know what it's like to reach the top shelf
Kek, almost same, I did like 3 or so 3/4 reps at 220lbs some months ago and my elbow hurts to this day. I was quite proud of myself, but now I doubt if these are safe.
I've been trying to do these for like 10 years but I stalled on weighted pullups at like 100lb and gave up
You probably had the strength at that point, you just needed to learn the movement. To do that you grab the bar with both hands, but offset so that 80% or more of your weight is being pulled by one arm, with the other assisting. Balance this out on each arm and you'll quickly improve.
i do them but i use one arm to grab the other forearm for stabilization, im too scared of snap city'ing my elbowing do it raw like OP gif
You mean the party trick that every teenage boy can do? Very impressive man
Could you as a teenager do a 1 armed pull up?
Read his post. Any moron who can do like 10 pullups can do what he's describing. Doing a 1arm pullup while grabbing your other arm is piss easy
thats not a real one arm pull up Black person graduate highschool before you come back here
I know you fricking moron I was spelling it out for him
That's how you train one armed.
Slowly move the hand back. Moving to grabbing past the elbow is a big step. Last you grab just the shoulder.
Obviously it's only part of training. Bands are extremely helpful, better than those pull-up assist machines because it's more natural movement.
yeah no one does that as a real exercise obviously you fricking moron
So the post was bait?
That's not a one armed pull up, since you're pulling with both arms.
That just takes a bit more grip strength, your hand holding the other arm still allows both arms and back to be used.
Trained for them in the past, gave up because progress is very slow unless you completely dedicate yourself to it.
What you have to watch out for:
>pec injuries
>bicep injuries
One arm pull ups heavily tax the pecs and back, one arm chin ups even more.
Don't know about carryover to anything else, probably little to none.
>Don't know about the carryover of steel cables for biceps, vice grip hands, and lats that can manipulate your entire bodyweight one at a time.
Yeah, it's probably little to none.
>Have pull up bar at my office
>coworker walk by as i stretch with one arm on the bar
>he asks me if i can do a one arm pull up
>i do one
Won't do it much more, as it's really easy to get injured.
Yes. Can do 2 with my left arm and 1 with my right. At my best I could do 3 with my left arm. I train mostly grabbing and pulling because I'm a climber gay. I'm basically a skeleton with cartoonish lats.
How much do you weigh? How did you train up to it?
Mirin. How much do you weigh? Do you think deadlifts and rows helped you, how were you able to do it?
Don't armwrestlers have the strict curl record, stronger arms than Hafthor? Can you do a one-arm pullup?
>Can you do a one-arm pullup?
Nope. Don't have the back strength for that, OAP are mostly about back.
I'm not really sure the best way to train but when I first achieved a one arm pull up I had been doing a lot of one arm negatives recently. Nowadays I train pull ups religiously with a really autistic conjugate program that involves weights, bands and chains with different days of the week dedicated to different volumes and levels of explosivity. My most recent weighted chin up PR was bodyweight + 160 lbs. My stats are 6'3" 170-175lbs depending on the day. My diet is low carb high protein medium fat. My elbows tendonitis is pretty fricked.
Jesus man that’s wild. What’s the exact schedule your were using? I just spend all day on the pull up bar twice a week
My 4 week cycle has been
>week 1 weights
>week 2 weights + elastic bands
>week 3 weights + chains
>week 4 weights + chains + bands
I've been at this for maybe 8 months? Would have to check my log book.
Intraweek schedule:
>monday work up to 1rm in 2-3 sets
>wednesday 5-6 sets of 5-8 reps at a high velocity
>friday is for volume/hypertrophy
>tuesday thursday and saturday are for pushing/accessories/legs
It's basically the westside barbell system afapted to my specialty. Like I said it's pretty autistic but there's a reason why elite powerlifters and strength athletes follow complicated programs.
Taking a little break right now to rehab some of my joints. I'm a 38yo oldgay so I can't go as hard as I used to. I hope to exceed a 2x bodyweight pull/chin up at some point.
I found using rings helped with joint issues. But grip with heavy weight gets hard. To solve this issue, use those ninja rings with flag bottoms.
When I was at my best I did a pyramid morning and afternoon 10 reps, then 9, then 8, down and if time allowed back up, 5 days a week (55-110 reps) plus weighted and one armed band stuff on vertical back day (also had a horizontal back day). I paired it dips + pull ups one day and rows + OHP or high incline press the other day.
I didn't try to max out much, but I would rep 115 at 155lbs. Rings are great for abs, really the GOAT. I stopped having back injuries from deads once I could do a back lever.
Thanks for the tip. Will look into some rings.
>Mirin. How much do you weigh? Do you think deadlifts and rows helped you, how were you able to do it?
77kg 180cm. In my thirties.
I never deadlift. Pull up days twice a week, mix between doing some of them in my office, or do them at the gym weighted. Rows. Bicep curls, and end with lateral pulldowns. 4-6 sets, rep range from 6 to 20, depending on how i feel that day. Decrease weight throughout the workout to stay within wanted rep range.
Also rock climbing once or twice a week. Yoga for mobility once a week, legs and abs added to yoga day too. And bench press/chest twice a week.
I can get about 3/4 of the way right arm and 1/2 with left at about 225lbs. Do a lot of weighted pullups, but I feel like it strains my shoulder too hard to want to try to actually do a full one.
What's your highest weighted pullup?
160lbs at 225lbs. I stopped trying to do 1RMs a long time ago.
I can do 2-3, although I normally don't try them until after warm up and one set of weighted pullups. They're like an after set thing I do to prove to myself I can still do it.
I could do more before when I was very into climbing. I worked as a guide for a bit which helped me get very lean.
I don't climb as seriously any more and bulked up because I like lifting too so I'm not where I used to be.
A big part is muscle memory and specific training but you also need to be able to rep heavy weighted pulls enough to have the requisite strength. Ring work is good for this sort of thing.
What % of your bodyweight for weighted pullups do you need to do a one-arm?
I think it's too specialized for most people to learn. I've only seen gymnasts and climbers who could do them.
moronic egolift
I could in high school
Is matt zlat's guide on getting a 1 arm pullup any good:
Yup
0. It's a lifetime fitness goal. 230+100x2 at my best didnt put me anywhere close. Just a little scap movement and elbow bend lol.
Who's the heaviest person you've seen do one?natty ofc
19kamau79 stands out to me.
I can do it if I cheat like Rocky
Nope.
I'm 6' 2" and lanky. That's too much ROM and I'm inherently too heavy.
