Unfortunately he is self experimenting and the chance he winds up shortening his life is probably higher than the average person, I'm sure his health insurance is technically more expensive now he's doing this.

My mom didn't need to tell me that taking dozens of supplements is fricking gay

  24. 9 months ago

My theory on longevity is that the key to it is adaptation, physical and cognitive. If you're learning new things, trying new things, challenging yourself in different ways and encountering new stressors to overcome, your body is in this constant state of growing and changing and shedding old skin that strengthens it.

In this scheme, even negative things have their place: going through disease can be positive because it builds up your resistances, a little bit of different poisons can lead to immunity, different foods even if they're not healthy per se enriches your microbiota, traumatic experiences lead to mental resilience. I see the body as a machine that re-organizes itself internally when it encounters new information, and my consciousness' job is to drive it into new terrain so new data can be assimilated.

Because of this, I think trying to find an optimal, perfect routine has diminishing returns, because the body and brain just get used to everything and stops trying. It feels like an outdated paradigm to be honest, the ideal system as this sterile one that thrives on optimal parameters, I feel like a lot of areas have been moving away from that view in the past few decades and embracing chaos and unpredictability as a vital part of the process.

I'm not hating on this guy, I wish him luck and I'm sure there's tons useful stuff in his blueprint, but I believe just following these principles I will outlive him, in every possible sense.

      Anonymous

      >and my consciousness' job is to drive it into new terrain so new data can be assimilated.
*ENOUGH new terrain but also not too much

He's vegan for ethical reasons. No one ever brings this up but it's fricking up his entire experiment. It's like having someone who is trying to build the tallest and strongest skyscraper possible but they're refusing to use concrete for ethical reasons.

No matter how many millions of dollars they dump into research and development it's all a complete waste because someone can later come along, do the exact same thing but with the stuff they left out on purpose and completely mog them.

It's such a fricking huge underlying problem to his entire experiment and it's so fricking stupid and such a colossal waste. He really could discover something new if he was actually down to use everything possible and really try but he's basically LARPing by being a Vegan and doing this.

But I'm still alive, Black person, and after 80, I honestly don't care. What's this homosexual gonna do when all his joints ache and he can barely move anymore? Nothing, that's what, he'll be old like me, except I won't have squandered my life trying to live longer when I'm incapable of doing jack shit.

      Anonymous

Getting old doesn't have to be like that. This guy won't live any longer than normal, but people who live good healthy lifestyles will not just live longer, but they will also live out to their death perfectly mobile, even if a bit slower at 92.

I watched a program earlier this year about 100 year old drivers and while it was terrifying, it was also good to see them being so active and having the desire to keep going. I also wouldn't support taking their licence away - older drivers are often less dangerous than they might appear, while younger drivers will sometimes divert their attention completely or make a really risky move but old people tend to take things nice a slow.

        Anonymous

I'm just saying it because by 80, if you've stayed active most of your life, shit will catch up to you and you'll inevitably slow down.
My dad walked 4+ miles a day until his late 70s when cancer and COPD started fricking him up, he always lived clean and ate well, but eventually, shit will almost certainly cut your activity down a LOT. There are VERY few Jack LaLannes out there pulling boats across the English Channel in their 80s.
Dad is still kicking it now at 88, but he only can walk a block or two before he has to sit and rest up. Mom's the same, used to walk miles every day until 80, then arthritis slowed her down and now, a few blocks at a time is all she can manage.
I'd rather live my best life of ISTshit as long as I can, and when the factors that slow me down come, I'm good with wherever I'm at, not gonna just keep on chugging along to see how many years I can stack up.

          Anonymous

yeah, I agree with you. There is nothing that this guy is doing that will make him live better or longer than a normal person eating healthily and doing some working out. Only walking a few blocks isn't so bad, I'm sure there are a few lardarses here that would have tremendous trouble doing that kek.

Realistically, he will probably live an extra 10 years at most. The odds of you dying increase exponentially over time.

if I could live to 110 without fancy tech, that would get me enough time to enjoy whatever anti-aging tech the later decades of the 21st century might hold

your brain starts degrading the moment you hit 20s so realistically speaking it's already over

Picrel is actually proof that Jude Law just looks better. He's also plastered with shitty makeup for that, but looks better.

You'd need AI to replace his hairline.

He eats a blended yogurt slops for his meals. I'll take dying a little bit earlier eating actual food.

Maybe I dunno tho. Guys in my family are usually fully functional at 95-100 and die at like 106.

Take a look at his Instagram you can see people legit frothing at the mouth mad that he is trying to extend his life span and not 'living and enjoying his life'. Seething like your wouldn't believe, that someone dare to use self discipline and not drink alcohol, party, etc. It's really unbelievable how threatened people can feel from this guy just doing his own thing.

I agree. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong but the herd mentality is really shitty.
If he's truely vegan, he does in fact need quite a few supplements to round out his diet. You really can't expect to live without b vitamins from meat or nutritional yeast.
