People have been gaslighting me about my physique my whole fricking life, my mom, my friends. They tell me I look alright, while I'm severly underweight. Only very recently I've gained some self awareness where I decided to actually start bulking and hitting the gym.

It's unfortunate how many people will bring you down, it's more likely that you are ugly, that you are not enough than the opposite. Work on yourself and feel good about yourself only when you actually earn it.

you just have severe body dysmorphia that is made worse by the fact that you're an incel + you browse incel websites where everyone else is super insecure

Most people define alright as "not fat". Particularly if they are "not not fat".

Skinnyfat. I sentence you to 1 year heavy lifting with slight calorics deficit and high protein intake. Sentence effective immediately

What about cardio, how intensive should it be?

            Anonymous

NTA. Moderate intensity, 2.5 hours total per week. It'll keep your heart healthy and it'll build your work capacity. Also don't worry about a caloric deficit. He's a moron for calling you skinnyfat. Aim to gain around 0.5lb-1lb per week and you'll be minimizing fat gain while gaining plenty of muscle. If you bulk like crazy you'll just get fat and you don't have a lot of fat to lose to begin with

              Anonymous

This is all good advice… except the caloric surplus.

There’s so much literature pointing to the fact you can lose fat and gain muscle with a very high protein diet. Like 1g to 1.1g per lb of body weight should be your goal.

Not when you're as lean as OP. Anything south of 15% bodyfat would be a struggle and anything below 12% is impossible without roids and a great genetic response to them. He's skinny and needs to bulk a bit. The guy is nearly 6' tall and weighs a buck 35 for fricks sake

This homie is 5’10” 135 lbs. He’s never going to be jacked if he doesn’t gain weight. The “literature” probably never even involved a participant in a study who was this underweight considering the rarity of it. Over relying on scientific studies can cause you to miss the blatantly obvious.

The guy can start life lean pilled without ever having to diet down. It depends what he wants.

I know personally I’d rather just stay lean and move into Brad pit mode rather than prioritizing muscle gains. It’s a personal choice but he should know he has the option

You just have a stark lack of muscle mass. You need to gain weight slowly and really focus on driving your strength numbers up. Push hard every workout for progressive overload. If your not progressing, something is going wrong. Add 40-100lbs to all your lifts over a year and you will look much better.

Alright, thanks bros for the advice. My weight gain has been around 0.5 to 2lbs a week, depending on how much I eat. I'll try to go harder in the gym and get more protein.

I don't listen to my mother. I don't like her that much and I'm often cold. If we go by the rule that your parents serve as role models in how you treat both men and women, then I don't like women very much. Ironically I am too nice around them.

What I meant is, if you have a solid, physical evidence of your strength and you can create such aura just by existing, then confidence is very natural, it's earned. What is there to be confident about in my current state? Anyone can frick me up.

Huh, thats strange. I live in the UK and it's typically the other way around.

Since most people are overweight or obese people think that 25 percent bodyfat is healthy and losing more would make you a skeleton or really unhealthy. Most peoples perception on what is a healthy weight is off by like 25kg

how did you gain the self awareness? A girl told you that she's going with another guy because "he has abs"?

      Anonymous

It's more like multiple girls treating me like "you're good enough to be seen with me in public but you're not good enough for anything more than that". I'll admit my attitude could have more edge and assertiveness to it but these things come easily when you know you deserve it (with your physique). So in my view a good body is a huge prerequisite for strong, stable self confidence.

How is that a ridiculous claim? Do you think you could really hold your own against some ripped dude who's 6'+ 250lb+? The correct answer is "no." I'm struggling to reach & maintain 160lbs at 5'10" height, and I will never "feel good" about myself. There's nothing I can do to be as physically capable as someone bigger than me.
