Not yet. I can maybe do one from a slightly elevated starting position when I'm totally rested, but definitely not one from a dead hang. I weigh about 85kg and can cable pull 65kg for 5+ reps or so. I start pull day with negatives until I can barely hold my chin above the bar for more than a second. Anything else in particular I should be doing? Only been at this since mid November but hoping to finally be able to do one soon.
Yeah I do those too but in the last week or two switched to barbell rows because the smith machine (only convenient place to do inverted rows and my gym is small and only has one) is often taken. Is there much of a difference between the two?
isometrics at the sticking point can work wonders. not really safe or practical for every exercise but for pullups its fine. just go slightly deeper than where you could do a pullup from and try your hardest to do one despite not moving anywhere
Yes, three.
Full extension and painfully slow. Just to prove a point.
Women don't give a shit, but men appreciate it.
They know how hard it is if you're not a lanklet.
could do 5 sets of 10 reps about 2 months ago. Took a break because weather is shit and I started lifting. Can barely do 5 x 5 now, will wait till the fricking snow melts outside and start the grind again.
I can do just five with good form >In order to get stronger I have to get heavier >as I get heavier bodyweight exercises get harder >As bodyweight exercises get harder I get stronger
Based pull-ups
The most based is to use weighted calisthenics. It will make you very strong, also it's really fun to do some weighted pull-ups and then do some bodyweight pull-ups, you feel so light
I can do 20 dead hang pullups or chin-ups, both feel about the same difficulty. No real program just have a full up bar in my room I randomly do sets on every day.
I can now do 3 sets of 8 after being stuck for like 8 months and I didnt have to lose a single kilo.
Wanna know how?
partial repetitions at my sticking point, that's basically it.
Frick full ROM.
I might start doing only weighted partial pull ups for the frick of it.
Ex-270 6'2 fatso here.
I was 186 lbs when I did my first pullup (neutral grip) but I was obsessed and it was pretty much the only thing I trained for. Got there mostly by spamming negatives but I also did some inverted rows and pic related.
I can do one if I try really hard and grind like a motherfricker.
t. 102kg fat frick who should be 85kg instead (I'm a dyel that has been in the gym since december 1st)
How tall? Every time I enter the gym i pray for the day the scales tell me I'm under 100kg. I should just do 3+ hours of cardio daily until it happens.
I'm 5'11 dude. I have tried dieting many times but still failed. Still gonna try again but if I can't I'm gonna say frick it and join the /fraud/ gang and cycle thyroid hormones.
Not that anon but 85kg is what a 15-20% BF DYEL 6'1-6'2 should weigh.
I'm 5'2 at 300lbs. How much weight should I lose before I can do a pull up?
84-88kg is a realistic goal if you're starting from 0.
I know a fellow 6'2let who bulked up to 97kg and can't do them anymore. He kept training hard but the weight gain (lol schizopills) outpaced the gainz gain. He's still pretty IST and doesn't look fat even at that weight.
I can do pull ups but I feel miserable every time
Like already at half of max reps it feels heavy as frick. Then I finish and want to puke. Happens every time except first set maybe.
Most brutal exercise for me.
I'd love to do them, they look so cool and aesthetic, but I can't yet. I do negative pull ups and lots of lat pulldowns, cable rows, t-bar rows, and low rows, but I'm extremely DYEL and it'll take a while.
Actually went from doing 0 to doing 2 after a few months last year. Never been able to do them before. Dead hangs until I could do negatives. Single negatives until I could do sets of negatives. Sets of negatives until I could do a single pullup.
Sure. Unweighted pull-ups for 10 reps are my warm up. My working set is currently 36 kg weighted pull-ups for 3 sets of 5 reps.
For a while, I was the only one at my gym doing weighted pull-ups. Now, a lot of guys and some of the girls are doing pull-ups. Some of them told me that I inspired them to get better at pull-ups. It’s a nice feeling.
I can do 16 chinups, 20 pullups and a 1RM chinup with 40kg. I used to be stronger at pullups because I trained them at home 3-4x a week during the pandemic. Still need to try a muscle up.
yes
but it took me years because i was a fat frick
but now i do weighted pullups, and anyone reading this can do them to eventually just keep trying
Yeah I like to do them because it rustles powershitters' jimmies

Inverted rows
Yeah I do those too but in the last week or two switched to barbell rows because the smith machine (only convenient place to do inverted rows and my gym is small and only has one) is often taken. Is there much of a difference between the two?

my pr is 10, can't do a single muscle up
frick my life
a dyel friend of mine did his first muscle up yesterday (albeit absolute shit form). I am seething.
if you can do 10 pull ups you can do a muscle up. just need to get the technique down.
I can do 3x10
could do 5 sets of 10 reps about 2 months ago. Took a break because weather is shit and I started lifting. Can barely do 5 x 5 now, will wait till the fricking snow melts outside and start the grind again.
I can do
>10x10 pull-ups
>10x10 chin-ups
>10x10 dips
and
>10x10 hanging leg raises
all in a bit less than an hour and a half.
Took me a bit more than a year of training 3 times a week outside in any weather, le motivational black man style.
>because weather
>wait till the fricking snow melts outside
pucci
Nice, muscle ups next anon, you can do it
> pucci
I know... Gotta channel the inner black man lift boat.
poast body please, legit curious
I can do just five with good form

I do sets of 12 in my unweighted days and sets of 5 to 8 1pl8 on my weighed days
Why are you brown?
And dyel
perfect form, good shit
ZERO
12
nice form
Beautiful form, but unfortunately you are the wrong skin color which negates your reps. Total reps = 0
No, I got fat. I can barely even do a chin up.
I can do 20 dead hang pullups or chin-ups, both feel about the same difficulty. No real program just have a full up bar in my room I randomly do sets on every day.

Frick full ROM.

I can do three now and anon said he'd burn my house down if I don't hit 5 by next Sunday morning.
I'm 5'2 at 300lbs. How much weight should I lose before I can do a pull up?
More than a year of dieting so don't worry about pull-ups at that point
i want to do 20 pullups by the end of the year. I meant to say 6'2.
That doesn’t really help considering your arms are probably long as shit. Get down to about 180 lbs and start from yhere
Ex-270 6'2 fatso here.

yes but i don't like doing them because they hurt my hands
after a whole year of training them, I can barely do 5 in a row with full motion, all the way down and up to the chin
I can do one if I try really hard and grind like a motherfricker.
t. 102kg fat frick who should be 85kg instead (I'm a dyel that has been in the gym since december 1st)

I can do 10-25. Unironically. It depends on what standard we use.
I can do one with 50kg added. Goal is one armed by summer which I think is pretty good for a 30 year old boomer.
I can do 27 🙂 but I'm also a manlet
I can do pull ups but I feel miserable every time
Like already at half of max reps it feels heavy as frick. Then I finish and want to puke. Happens every time except first set maybe.

I do them from absolute stretch, close grip, and do anywhere between 5-8 reps, depending on whether I'm doing heaps of sets.
I used to be a fat guy but now I'm doing them easily.
77kg 188cm, 16 pullups today new record 🙂 love doing them weighted too
I can do like 18 in a set but I do them weighted now
reminder that your reps don't count if you don't go chest to bar
I can do about 7
Actually went from doing 0 to doing 2 after a few months last year. Never been able to do them before. Dead hangs until I could do negatives. Single negatives until I could do sets of negatives. Sets of negatives until I could do a single pullup.
I do bench supersetted with pull-ups (5 x 10) then incline bench supersetted with chin ups (4 x 8-10) all at 205 body weight
Sure. Unweighted pull-ups for 10 reps are my warm up. My working set is currently 36 kg weighted pull-ups for 3 sets of 5 reps.

perfect form / no momentum i can do max of 19 unweighted. im skinny af tho so that definitely helps.
how tf the pic is upside down fml
I can do 16 chinups, 20 pullups and a 1RM chinup with 40kg. I used to be stronger at pullups because I trained them at home 3-4x a week during the pandemic. Still need to try a muscle up.
I can do 5 pullups (good form, full ROM) despite being a complete and utter dyel.
I can do one with 40kg hanging from my balls. Shoulder aligned grip though
