Mayo can't be that bad it's got egg in it that means it's healthy
Can't have a sandwich without a bit of mayo, and sandwich is even healthier

It's like 95% oil. The egg is just to start the emulsion process

I don't think it'll be that much calories.

Unless you're in a cutting you'll be fine

For every 17g of mayo its probably 45 calories. Its 5x more calories than an equivalent amount of ketchup thats been sweetened to hell.

Idk when people tell me "I'm so unhealthy but it's sooooooo yummy YUMMY YUMMY FOOD IN MY TUMMY TUMMY" I just think of nikocado, it's the same mentality. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY BAD THOUGHTS GO AWAY IF IM YUMMY UP

It's a type of sauce, and sauces are fricking delicious and open up a whole fricking world of flavour.

Just make your own butter mayo, then you can eat as much as you want. The only bad thing in mayo is the seed oils.

Still a frick ton of calories, but at least thats healthier and natural. Didn't think butter could be used to make it. Would you use the clarified butter or is the milk fat fine with it?

You can make it with melted butter but the second it cools down it becomes a solid mass. The least harmful version that's functionally like mayo is with avocado oil (because even raw it doesn't have an outright offensive flavor) and that has, depending on what you're using it on, a not-so-pleasant bitter avocado flavor. It's still like 10-15% linoleic acid though so hardly great, just not apocalyptically bad like rape/sunflower seed oil.

              MCT oil works, but expensive

I'm not really comfortable substituting one science experiment for another. I get that MCT oil can just be fractionated coconut oil but that still means they, in the best case scenario, heated it beyond the boiling point of a portion of the fatty acids and coconut oil is one of those weird things that have a bunch of good properties specifically only when raw.

You could use coconut oil, or evoo.

Try it with EVOO. I dare you to eat it.
I might try coconut oil once juts to see if it works, though I would think the high saturated acid content would make it harden just like butter.

                >coconut oil is one of those weird things that have a bunch of good properties specifically only when raw.
idk sounds like some schizo nonsense. coconut oil is probably not healthy compared to other saturated fat sources. I just want to avoid too much PUFA/MUFA in my mayo, not like i'm eating it all the time

I thought so too but there's no shortage of scientific papers about using its antimicrobial properties that are apparently deactivated by heat.

Use olive oil. Not a seed oil, and has the correct texture / viscosity for mayo.

And as a bonus it tastes like a vagrants butthole, so it will absolutely wean you off mayo.

I don't worry about calories because hormones are what is fattening, not calories.

The best butter mayo recipe is this one for spreadable butter mayo. It just uses normal butter not clarified.

For me its butter. I fricking love butter. I use it generously whenever I make eggs, chicken, red meat, oats, basically anything. If I would weigh it its unironically probably adding up to like +300kcal per day. So if I think Im on a 500kcal deficit, im probably just barely on any deficit at all.

The worst part about the mayo is the sneed oils that lower metabolic rate and induce fat gain and insulin resistance. Home made butter mayo ideally or avocado oil mayo are much healthier. Or light mayo if you don't get gut issues from all the gums and weird ingredients

Make your own, and in small batches. It will be way better, higher quality ingredients, and you'll have to ration it out or constantly be making mayo

      Anonymous

Blend first 6 ingredients together, just to mix. Tiny drips of oil on low blend speed for a minute. Then very thin stream for a few minutes, then you can stream last quarter in a bit faster. As more oil is emulsified, it gets easier to mix more in. That's why you HAVE to go slow at first
