I was always surprised how often paramedics would frick up basic protocol, until I realised they have to work 10 - 12 hour shifts + sometimes 24h shifts.
or get stabbed by some fented out walking psychosis when, after the fact, you know you should have seen it coming

I have mild insomnia and ADHD, I can hyper-focus on something and stay awake for 20 - 30 hours. I still make gains.

No clue bro. It’s one of the many reasons I moped out of anything fire/ems or medical related. Frick that shit. The pay simply didn’t justify the job nature where I am. Barely enough to scrape by okay, with all the stresses of the job.

why don't they just get more firemen and paramedics and rotate them so they can work normal hours and always be fresh and alert, or am I just a genius
Because then they’d have to pay more per hour and spend more on firefighters and nothing makes boomers more spastic than spending money on something useful when that money could be going to the military, Israel, or social security.

Why do they have to be awake? They are on call. Have a night supervisor who is awake and let them sleep
That’s actually exactly what they do, they aren’t literally awake 48 hrs straight they’ll just often at least get a call or two overnight, bad nights may have 4-5.

Here we have 12 hours shifts max and sometimes you're out on duty the entire fricking shift, I can't imagine a 48 hours shift like this
