dieting is calories in calories out while consuming your macros. There's no big secret behind it and everyone saying the opposite is either clueless, memeing or a grifter

Although I fully believe CICO is all that matters (on top of basic macros obviously), surely there must be some differences between consuming x calories spread throughout the day vs. consuming x calories all at once in a single meal. Maybe it isn't a significant different, but there's no way something as complex as the human body will react the same to both conditions.

        Some people prefer omad
        others prefer intermittent fasting
and a few would rather have small meals throughout the day
experiment and choose what works for you

i’m a huge fasting zealot but there’s studies that find zero difference in calories expenditure between even 14 small meals versus 2 big ones (both groups being of same calories daily). for the real fasting benefits you’re not looking at OMAD, you need AT LEAST 24 hours empty stomach to get the hormone spikes and autophagy etc. i am a huge fan of fasting and recommend all fatsos at meast try for a month but it all boils down to CICO and macros

Theoretically there's a maximum amount of calories your intestines can process per hour due to their surface area, but you're not hitting it in a day's worth of calories. Like maybe if you ate "10k calories" of just straight simple empty sugars you'd cap out and not absorb the full 10k, but in an ordinary diet of 2-3k calories you're fine.

Disagree. If you're doing 0mad, it's hard to overeat.

And if you are doing that, adjust what you're eating. I personally like it but am currently back to eating more regularly after seeing stuff about protein synthesis.

I could not imagine doing this to my stomach. I eat 2 small meals of maximum protein and am full for hours. Today I had ground chicken, beans, eggs, onions, garlic. One meal would be like a stomach stretching routine competitive eaters do.

I eat OMAD and I'm not in a deficit (so when would I ever draw on fat stores). Your meals don't have to be one giant meme to make up your macros, micros & calories. A lot of small dishes in rapid succession with an emphasis on caloric density for the main portion.

I've been doing OMAD for years with no intention to ever stop. I no longer desire snacks, garbage food, or food in general outside of my eating window. Digestion is 100x better. More time not eating to make more total focused time available, despite cooking everything from scratch.

This. I switched to it to lose weight, then continued on it once I lost the weight. It's just easier, and it flows with my workout schedule. I like to run on an empty stomach, and lift at night. I run at lunch time (which I no longer have to spend time eating), then lift while preparing dinner at night (I have a home gym).

Dont take on some of the first-thought psyop negativity in this thread. The body is optimised in handling OMAD as thats the whole point of insulin, huntergatherers did OMAD, OM every other D, etc. As long as you're hitting your ideal macros with a good nutrition profile, you'll find that OMAD will reduce fatigue (your body isnt spending energy in constantly metabolising), burn fat quicker, and cultivate self-discipline to not snacking or trying to fill in boredom through food. This.

I just do it because the first meal I take reroutes blood to my stomach, and it makes me drowsy, and it happens each time I eat a meal, so, if I just eat one big meal, I'll have it once in a day where I feel a bit drowsy and then equilibriate and then can be focused for the rest of the day.

Good for maximizing autophagy while not starving yourself. It’s way easier to manage your weight as well because meals turn into fueling up for the next day and less about the pleasure of eating and there is no way you’re going to eat 3000+ calories in on sitting unless you’re eating junk. I’ve been doing it for four months now and like it

It has made me insanely lean. I have started to stretch my eating window out to about 2 hours instead of one our or less though because especially on running days eating 3000+ calories all at once was making me pass out from exhaustion about 45 minutes after eating lol.
BUT, it definitely helps with energy regulation. I don't "crash" during a long run or lifting session because (at least I'm pretty sure) my body is basically trained to immediately use stored body fat for energy without skipping a beat.

over the last few years of dieting I've found I lose weight the fastest doing OMAD, my appetite falls off the table and it makes sticking to a bigger deficit easier. Makes life easy too, I prep all my meals for the whole week sunday and don't have to think about it for the rest of the week.
I do a less strict OMAD currently tho, I OMAD lunch, but I drink some psyllium husk when I wake up (maybe breaks ketosis??) and then drink a protein shake post workout (might not break ketosis) which is like 5hrs after my meal window.
Either way after the first week or so, once your body adapts, I think OMAD helps better than any other diet with appetite suppression
