Not necessary because you can easily see if they're juicing or not.

      Unless you're a zoomer I guess lol.

I like it. Because it's more pitfalls to catch morons and vanity lifters. They'll do their every day calisthenics kettbell blah blah blah 100g of protein fight club mode thing and in 5 years they'll probably look the same just older. Everyone who had the humility to not put ego and vanity first or had the wisdom to rely on more tried and true approaches will be so far past them. Gullible people are free guinea pigs. The likelihood they'll ever find something that's outside conventional lifting that works is scant but hell we'll all benefit if they do and they're the ones taking all the risks so it's a win for everyone not involved in it.

tendons and ligaments heal and repair much slower than muscle. so rest days are important. as you progress to heavier weight and harder exercises you will eventually get to a stage where every few months you should be taking an entire week off to try and proactively fend off slowly building damage that can manifest randomly like tendonitis or tendonosis. if youre hardly moving any weight it isnt as important but you still need to take days off. lots of injuries in the gym arent actually things that happened in one session, but a part of the body was already weakened and you assumed it was at full strength and it gets pushed past its limit and now you have a problem and have to take months of to let it heal.

      This happened to me.
I went to the gym everyday for a month and was careful not to work out the same muscle every 48 hours. But by the end the month I had terrible tennis elbow and horrible pain on my collar bone and shoulder joints

I recently took 3 weeks off due to laziness and when I got back into the gym today, my muscles were stronger than ever.

Your muscles get used to training and stop responding, unless you contantly increase volume or intensity. When you take 2 months off, your tendons, joints, ligaments and nervous system fully heal and are able to withstand way more force. On top of that, your muscles get resentivised to the training and respond much better.
Those are the resons for deloads and rest weeks.
If yiu are natural, you won't lose any muscles in those 2 weeks or even 2 months. You still can move to do cardio or to keep kuscles in tonus. Just no heavy lifting.

Rest days are important if you are training hard. If you aren't training hard, you don't need as much rest.

took a week off due to a cracked rib, upper body significantly stronger when I started lifting again

wtf if I take five days off I lose a month of lifting progress.
if I take three weeks off I lose three months of lifting progress.

Same. I assume people who maintain their gains are either genetically blessed or I'm a botched necromancy experiment that literally rots if I'm not performing lifting rituals to keep the body intact.

You all are just volumetards. It's not muscles you are losing, just glycogene storage. If you are natty, just one training session will restore it back.
If you are a roitroony, you will lose a lot of "progress"

I'm natty and it takes a month for my body to recover taking a week off. I'm also at a point in my training where despite mediocre lifts for my bw I'm stalling extremely hard, and both times I did a cut I lost 90% of the strength (not just volume but 1rms) I've gained on the bulk. I'm pretty sure I'm just genetic excrement, so as soon as my body starts to slow down with age I'll Tren this dumpster fire into an early grave. Poetic justice.

            Anonymous

            Nah. There are better ways.
First of all, bulking and cutting is a meme for natties. Works only for roidtrannies who take different compounds.
Try doing HIT. It's less volume and easier on joints. Don't be moronic lile menzer. Follow dorian yates routine. You can train with a hugher frequency and do just upper/lower spli twice a week. 2 weeks of light training every 6 weeks.
Or just try not to rest, but training very liggtly to keep your muscles. Our body will get rid of muscles if not used, especially when cutting. Just don't damage them too much. That's all.
            T. 82kg natty, who was doing a light body weight workout during half a year of lockdowns and didn't lose a single kg. Recovered strength in a single month of training.

Bro, he died from overexertion. He died because he didn't rest at all. He'd do moronic shit like take 3AM walks instead of sleeping to get his step count up. He'd do 1000 calorie HIIT workouts every morning in addition to more cardio later and then he'd lift every day. He was sub 10% bodyfat year round and was maintaining his weight on 5500-6000 a day from how active he was. Then he decided he was going to drop down to sub 5% bodyfat and maintain that and in his last videos he had the death face. That was the last straw and his heart gave out from all the stress he put on his body.

That’s insanely moronic of him. 5% bf is when your body is survival mode and has no excess reserves to pull from. You lose focus, energy, libido, etc cause any fuel your body has goes towards making sure you stay alive, that’s it. Maintaining 5% is just willfully torturing yourself, and not in the good way like you pushed yourself extra hard on a workout. Dude took his body dysmorphia to an extreme level.

I am an ex gymnast. Back in the 90s we trained about 25 hours per week. We just didn't train on Sundays and that is if we didn't have an event or something. But we didn't really sit on our ass on Sundays either, we'd go cycle or play soccer etc. There was no notion of rest. Also there was no weightlifting at all, but our club had other sports and I do remember them lifting now and then (water polo, basketball). Maybe things have changed now I dunno

You can rest once you're jacked bro trust

  19. 5 months ago
    Anonymous

Yeah if you don’t train very hard then you don’t need rest days. But if you’re actually lifting until failure and getting DOMS the next day, you’re growing just as fast as the guy who works less hard but has to do it everyday.
There was a great study that proved this: they had 1 group workout for 1 year without any breaks, while the other group would take a full week off once a month.
Both groups grew the exact same amount, while only the group which took breaks felt any DOMS.
So you can quite literally grow just as much with less work.
