It does not. Strength isn't what you're lacking in a pistol squat. You can sit on your couch, chair or low bow and get up easily with one leg. It's balance and ankle dorsiflexion that are the limiting factors. You have to develop those independently.
I actively try not to put any weight into my hands tho (while holding the rings)

If you want to do it without grips eventually you'd want to progress to doing pistol squats on a box. Just sitting and standing using one leg. Then you remove the box. The box let's you learn some stability near the bottom of the rep but let's you get closer to mechanical failure which is better for building muscle than sub optimal sets. Eventually you just remove the box.

Pistol squats are a dumb exercise anyway. Imagine if your leg day was just leg extensions, that's what happens when calisthenics pals replace squats with pistols. You should be spamming reverse lunges instead, since it works everything.
When i did semi weighted calisthenics, lower days were hell.
4 sets of goblet squats
4 sets of split squats or lunges
4 sets of rdl
4 sets of ring hamstring curls
+
4 sets of single leg calf raises
5 sets of leg raises
+
5 sets of reverse hypers
+: are super sets for time management
I prefer to just go the gym and bang out 6 sets on the hack squat and do some rdls and maybe some hamstring isolations.
I don't actually lean against the rings, they sorta act as a last resort balance check
mostly for maintaining stability, the full weight is on the legs
at least that's how I do it, the rings are more of a placebo (kinda)

i just added bulgarian split squats to go with kettlebell swings for legs.
