Didnt read but lifting is quite similar to RPGs. Crazy
Based. keep /fit nerdy
>halfway through the game
>been slow progress, working on a Paladin build (medicine)
>good Charisma, Con, healing abilities
>recently started multi-classing Wizard, trying to stay in academic medicine or teaching position
>daily grind of studying, including texts on teaching and learning, trying to raise Int
>lifts going up, finally doing Cardio again, better Str and Con
>more time in nature, prayer, Wis rising
>long term relationship, will have kids. The ultimate campaign buff
RPG bros, advice on scouting a job? I haven’t had to find a job since starting med school in ‘17. Specifically, what tools can I use to look up salary ranges?
Also, advice: you can never buff Char too high. It’s a skill you have to practice every day. Additionally, it doesn’t seem obvious, but cooking is a great Char buff. People love food, you get to enjoy it, and money saved by cooking rather than eating out basically unlocks other skills.
Any advice on studying and applying for IT jobs? I hate pretty much each and every modern job but I've had a year of neetdom and it has to change
How to apply the rpg mindset to that
Paladín bro responding. As I said, I’m in medicine, but my wife is in tech (changed from a previous career in something extremely not-computers, had a bachelor’s in the liberal arts, but DID have a strong background in math), my sibling is in tech (was always into machines, electronics, coded in high school), and another sibling (no tech background, just talked her way into a job and worked well with others). My wife picked her training program based on its networking ability; she then buckled down, cobbled together pre-requisite courses from online classes across the country, and within 15 months had an advanced degree in hand and a six-figure job at a Fortune 100 company. My sibling is not good with people. They were always very math and IT driven, but struggled to actually land The Big Job until a couple of years ago, basically 20 years out from when they entered college. The other sibling just works well with people. I *did* work in tech support for a while. So based on what I have seen:
>select your dungeon/training program based on its ability to network you to a job, and effectively nothing else
>it’s a dungeon crawl, this WILL take time
> Critical skills are Python, MS Excel, and troubleshooting. These are foundational. Go get books, watch online courses, everything
>if you are going the Code Mage build, R and SQL seem important
>GitHub is your spellbook, without it you have NOTHING
>you don’t manage an inventory, you manage data. Save shit constantly. As long as the data is safe somewhere, Armageddon has not happened
>it’s a grind, stick with it. Early levels being a caster sucks and is not glamorous, but late campaign the payout becomes exponential
>fools dump points into INT. While INT will get you through a dungeon, CHA and WIS will get you through a campaign
>a Code Mage who is good with tech and good with people will have ten times the career of a mage who is great with tech but bad with people
As a tech main myself, I would like to recommend practicepython.org to get started with python basics. After that, just start building projects.
