2nded - unless your route has decent street lighting you're finding that broken bottle the hard way, or not seeing the rainslick manhole cover, or pile of dogshit, or whatever it is. I'd also advise hi-vis gear; there'll be fewer drivers at night, but they're more likely to be tired or drunk or whatever. That said, when it's quiet and you feel like you've got the street to yourself, it can be awesome
I agree. Flashing armbands are all you need. It's important for others to be able to see you, but you shouldn't need help yourself to see at all.
>Carry a gun >While running
I dont even carry a cell with me when I'm out for a run
I don't either. A gun, my house key, and my carry license. And if you have the right setup you really don't feel it at all. I don't even live in a dangerous area, I do it just because I can.
some year down the line finding out you have rabies and are going to die because something bit you and you didn't even realize it.
It's probably one of the only vaccines I approve of because catching it means death 100% of the time. The Milwaukee protocol was essentially a fluke and only worked because she was a child and no one is going to put their liability on the line to do that for you.
Wear flashing led armbands. If you listen to music then wear open-ear headphones to better hear approaching cars, koss portapros or sportapros are great. Like already mentioned it will take you a while to "learn" your route in low visibility - every uneven part of the sidewalk you might trip over, where rainwater tends to pool, potholes, etc.
You might also want to carry a gun. It's really not cumbersome at all if you use a subcompact 380 or 9mm (think lcp 2/max, p365, hellcat, g26, etc). I wear anti-chafe underwear that covers most of my thighs, the gun in a waistband holster over them, and a pair of running shorts over it that completely covers the gun. I don't even feel it and forget it's there.
I exclusively run at night not just because I'm a nightowl who gets a second wind when the sun goes down, but because it's too fricking hot. You also don't have to worry about other people on the sidewalk most of the time, and if you're self-conscious it's easier to run without a shirt.
I tried that a couple of times when it was really hot in summer during the day. After getting stopped by the police a couple of times I stopped doing that.
White guy living in a white neighboorhood. They just tell you that they find it suspicious when they see someone running at night. They were probably also bored and wanted something to do.

One time I went for a walk at night and decided to take a quick rest by sitting on the sidewalk and a cop pulled up almost immediately to ask me for my ID and question what I was doing. Probably thought I was homeless or something. I'm white and live in an all-white suburb with no crime, but cops still always suck ass.
I did midnight runs when I lived in Corona, CA. Almost completely uneventful. Cops detained me once for twenty minutes and someone tried to sell me meth but that was about it.
Depends where. In the city? Fricking never. I live in the middle of nowhere with forests all around. We have a trail that I used to run around 10 at night. It was super comfy and the cool breeze is always nice. Just make sure you keep a light with you and be prepared for animals. I had a deer sprint right by and I swear it looked a person charging me for a second. Scared the living frick out of me, but was hilarious afterwards.
Wear bright colors and a reflective vest, maybe even flashing LEDs. I can't tell you the number of times I've nearly hit morons running on the side of the road in all black at night where there aren't even street lights because I literally couldn't see them even with my headlights until I got so close I had to slam my brakes and swerve.
so much fun
Kino if you live in a safe area
Kino if you live in a dangerous area. Skirting the line between life and death is what makes men feel alive.
Not seeing where you step

Nightrunners need this.
Fricking lightBlack folk, nothing worse than walking around at night acclimatised to the dark then being lightblinded but some techbitch

wearing a flashlight on your forehead multiplies your chances of reproductive success by 0.0001

Night running in the city is great. Second only to running through pine forests in the very early morning.

Why? How? Are you black? Are you jumping over people's backyard fences?

rape
Chasing women at night and terrorizing the neighborhood is a great test booster
> What am I in for?
A fricked up circadian rhythm and excessive cortisol
getting killed
getting robbed
getting raped
getting attacked by an animal
getting hit by a car
getting attacked by (a) pitbull(s)
>no need to worry so much about vehicles and traffic in general
>lower temps makes it easier to run
A good time. Enjoy. Was thinking about driving innawoods at night and run a few miles. Need a headlight tho.

I did this last night because I spent all afternoon buiding a desk. It was good run.
I go running at 05.30 in the morning and it's great

death and possibly unwelcome sex with multiple people under a bridge
Fun during full moon
