Prison is about rehabilitation and not punishment. They served the time for their crimes. They should be allowed to return to society. We all make mistakes anon. I can see your mum made at least one.

Are we talking about American prison?

I'm talking about prison prison. The American prison system is fricking shite and is run by for profit companies. It should be about rehabilitation but whilst profit is involved it will never be.

I remember reading a study once where they gave prisoners multivitamins and it cut violent incidents with other prisoners and guards down by a third. I think healthy living shoud definitely be encouraged for cons, both inside and outside of prison.

A low impulse guy will violently attack another gym goer if he feels he has been disrespected.

Most criminal offenders aren't violent, drug crimes make up the overwhelming majority of felonies in most states, theft and property crimes thereafter, sex crimes, and violent crimes are usually last or near the bottom of the list. In some states for a serious violent crime you won't even be eligible for parole until about 80% of your sentence and a few of those carry 10 or 20 year bids. For the truly violent it is very difficult to avoid additional charges once you are in jail, in other words, the odds you are coming in contact with a violent criminal offender are pretty low relative to the rest of the population. The American criminal system is actually getting more and more lenient on child sex offenders, odds are better you are working out with a chomosexual over a violent offender.
