Should I do a 50 day water fast?
I went from 238lbs(June 2021) down to 165lbs (Jan 2022) through normal dieting, I still ate carbs and sugar (coffee and cereal/fruit only) and cut fat cause I didn't know any better then. Gradually climbed back up since then and am now 230lbs again. I was 180lbs for about 11 months but then kinda got depressed and ate like complete shit for a while.

I just wanna lose it quickly.

          If you didn't know, walking as an exercise (1+ hour no breaks) is great because in addition to using muscle, you also lower your cortisol levels which decrease inflammation and boost injury response.

          We will never know the pain and suffering of Americans.
          In my country people can safely walk for an hour or two. We have sidewalks and our police doesn't consider walking a dangerous activity.

            i live in america and i'm not allowed to drive my car for six months due to a medical condition that i was recently diagnosed with. that's when i realized how car-dependant our society is. i have sidewalks i can walk on, but they're super narrow and have almost no easement from the roads, so you have to watch for pickup trucks with those big mirrors that could frick your shit up if they pass too close. and intersection crossings are super dangerous where i live because people rarely use them, thus cars are used to just plowing through at high speeds. they literally slam on the breaks when they realize there's actually a pedestrian trying to cross because it's such a rarity now. it's almost as if people who walk in my neighborhood are assumed to be homeless or loitering/shoplifting. suburban america really is a different world when you can't use a car.

          American urban design is actively hostile towards pedestrians. The only places where it's feasible to walk are the old downtowns and our parks.
          The suburbs are the worst, because the entire infrastructure is designed around cars, so walking makes you take the same route as cars but with 1/20th of the speed.

          If there were more walkways that pedestrians could use as shortcuts (or if we phased out the god-awful stroads), then you might see people walking around more often.

            There is truth to this
            It's tricky because many cities are new and were designed around cars from their inception. It's much easier for a pre-WW2 city (Chicago, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, etc.) to be walkable since they were designed that way by necessity, than to retrofit a newer city designed around the car (must suburbs) to be walkable.
            In short I don't believe it's fiscally possible, or even popular with people who are used to the comfort a car affords them. Seems much easier to advocate for removal of Black folks (gentrification) in urban centers to make them tolerable places to live.

        Just got done with my usual 10 mile walk. Feels good. Feels human, man. Calculator says its about 900 calories

      I keep a pledge book, so whatever I write in there is what I have to do. When I first lost the weight I just wrote I couldn't eat snacks or junk food anymore. If I write 50 days, I'll do 50 days.

    Water fasting "works" when done responsible (read lots of guides) but it is **shit** imo.

    Days will feel twice as long due to the constant suffering from hunger and boredom. Days feeling that long amplifies the level of suck even more. Falling asleep will be very hard, most can’t do it without sleeping pills knocking them out. You won’t have energy to do productive shit and the hunger will never go away, don’t let any water fast hippies meme otherwise.

    You'll lose fat AND muscles and if you do this kind of rapid weight loss for several weeks in a row, you risk permanent stretch marks and loose skin as the skin cannot adapt fast enough. You also risk damaging your metabolism for years ahead (see the studies on the Fattest Loser contestants).

    And since you’ve established that you put weight back on because you can't make healthy eating a lifestyle, you are earning all that weight back eventually. The suffering will be for naught.

    Wanted to wait, until the fasting threads pop up, but frick it. 15 days in, out of 30. 271 to 255lbs. Got a Renpho scale, that calculates the BF %. Want to hit 190lbs at 15% BF. Currently 29%.

    Contemplating stopping it here. Planned on breaking it like this.

    Beef & Bone Broth
    >March 2nd - 3rd:
    Beef and Bone Broth w/ 2 eggs
    ½ Bottle of Kombucha (48fl oz)
    >March 3rd-9th
    Steak & Eggs w/ Bacon
    Goat cheese & Greek Yogurt
    Side of kimchi & Sauerkraut (Full bag of kimchi & Half jar of Sauerkraut)

    Also wanted to take a week off from fasting, to then do weekly 6 day fasts, in march. With the Saturday being break day. Wanted to fast into march, to get through 2 pay periods, and do a 200 dollar grocery haul of meats, and other carnivore-ish items.
    >Only hopping on the diet, for the sake of weightloss. And reintroduce whole carbs.
