All my life I've had a great head of hair, and it's become part of my identity. However, since December, I can tell that I've been losing it, and I want to do what I can to keep it. The loss patches are still roughly hidden, so it looks like I still have a full head of hair, but it's quickly thinning. My doctor gave me a prescription for Finasteride (and I have some Rogane), but I'm worried about the side effects. I took one dose (1mg) the night of Thursday before last, and within several hours I could feel my nipples getting *extremely* sensitive, some swelling around the chest area, a numbness around my groin, and a complete drop-off of my sex drive. I didn't take another dose, and the side effects didn't wear off until Saturday night/Sunday morning. I don't want to take any more until I really know what I'm getting into, but I want to keep my hair, and I have to act soon. The next chance I have to speak with an actual professional is in June.

I monitored my hormones for an entire year and if anything, testosterone slightly increased (not thanks to finasteride though, but because other, external factors).

Unless you're a NW4 already you're not going to lose all your hair in less than 6 months. Though ideally you would start fin as early as possible to avoid anymore DHT from killing your follicles.
