>Sleep is suuuuper important, it's like taking steroids. You should sleep at least 8 hours.
Okay, what should I do if I wake up after 5-6 hours (on my own, without an alarm) and can't fall asleep again when trying? Has anyone here made good gains while sleeping only this much?

Sleep is without a doubt the most overrated part of fitness.
Having a fricked sleeping schedule impacts me less than if I stop taking creatine.
If you legitimately can’t I wouldn’t worry about it. Some people need less sleep. I would try to sleep more if some habit or issue is causing that though
I don’t think the recovery is the biggest issue, it’s just that it’s hard to truly push yourself to new levels if you haven’t slept enough. Just doing a workout it’s fine but really getting after it just feels counterproductive on little sleep and the results usually match that feeling
nofap offsets the bad sleep
no i sleep too much, frequently for 12 or even as much as 16 hours
no i don't work
i'm not depressed i don't do drugs or drink i eat a healthy diet and i work out every day but not so much that i'm destroyed
>t.
hehe cat
You have hypothyroidism. Take Lugol's iodine solution 5%
shut the frick up butthole. you are not a doctor. stop diagnosing shit you have nowhere near enough information.
theres also a disease i forgot what name or whether it was a bacteria or virus but basically lots of people get it and youre just really tired and sleepy for a while before your body deals with it, you keep carrying it after though, but try iodine as well as magnesium, chances are if you have not been supplementing these you will be deficient, i can back this up with sources if you want me to but id rather you google it yourself because im lazy and dont want to
I hit the bong when that happens and try to get another 3-4 hours.
You don't get REM sleep that way though
>>Okay, what should I do if I wake up after 5-6 hours (on my own, without an alarm) and can't fall asleep again when trying
take a siesta in the middle of the day. you're likely biphasic.
Depends how you feel. If you feel well rested then just live your life. If you regularly feel tired during the day then try having a lil nap. If you need to go further, cut caffeine and porn. If you need to go even further, go to a GP/look into common causes of sleep disruption eg deviated septum.
Your CNS might need a break if you struggle sleeping like that.(unbalance in serotonin and cortisol)
>You literally need to be a NEET without life for OPTIMAL MUSCLE GAINS
Meanwhile Chad eats pizzas, parties and drinks every night and still look miles better than him.
Frick this goblin and his autistic take on fitness, frick all the science gays, they really vaccinated me from this approach to fitness.
At first I thought they were raising nice points, but now it's obvious they're the same as the friendless neckbeards obsessing over my little pony.
This approach is an orthopraxy that will just kill your gains, because you'll focus on minor details, obsess about it and become a bitter autist about anything that's not CORRECT SCIENTIFIC FITNESS™
don't overthink, take it easy, just lift big weights with consistency
There's nothing wrong with focusing on the minutiae. I used to bring scales with me going to family dinners. I don't eat out due to unknown additives in the food. Yeah people give you shit for it, but I love micromanaging myself, and let's face it, most hardcore lifters are outliers/neurodivergent anyway. Like my interest in guitar, I'm interested in how many copper winds there are on the bobbins of my pickups, or the timbre of the clicking sounds of the light switches in my home (I asked my electrician friend if people have requested switches with different clicking sounds).
I'd rather be neurotic than a normie.
Preach fellow sperg bro. But I think he has a point when people over intelectualize shit WHILE not putting enough of the nobrainer effort and discipline.
Yes, agreed. Analysis paralysis is a real thing. Doing the action gets you 90% of the way there, the rest is finessing with 1-percentiles.
Sleep defecit is real and detrimental. I only had 4-5 hours last night, so no lifting for me today, more sleep required is a better strategy. Do I want to lift? Yes. Should I? Negatory.
Its fine it's been a month that I can't motivate myself to lift but I'll get back into it, the show is still happening.
WAGMI
Take the action and the feeling will come with it. Every day is a new day to try.
being neurotic literally kills your gains tho, you're producing too much cortisol by being that way, that's why moronic gymbros have better gains than autists despite having shit sleep/nutrition/training,
literally a Vegeta vs Goku situation, to make a nerd analogy you can understand.
Yes, I agree, that's why more and quality sleep is the bedrock of my day's foundation.
I don't believe you can lift more than 2 plates on any exercise. Nerd.
I agree and after the scamdemic I've given up on all science and medical research completely.
I do the routine I do because I like it. Frick gay science nerd routines.
I find deep satisfaction in reaching a goal through nearly neurotic levels of optimization, especially if the results are as good as projected. I've spent weeks ironing out diet parameters after nearly a year of tracking my food intake, and I finally have a set of foods with nearly perfect micros, lipid profiles, and macro ratios - and it can be extended by simply increasing amounts of foods on the list. Posted it in /fat/ yesterday just because I was happy about it.
>Meanwhile Chad eats pizzas, parties and drinks every night and still look miles better than him.
Chad also doesn't work 12 hours a day because he needs to "hustle" his "sigma grindset".
the "hustling" people are not Chads lmao, in what world do you live ? All the sigma morons are skinny 16 y/o living with their parents.
Chad is most likely some real estate selling normie or an interior designer or some shit
Why would someone actually listen to something dr. israelite israelite says? I watched one video with him as a guest. He was obnoxious, taught some common knowledge which is one search away and looked like an oversized baby with horns.
if youre not tired then just stay awake
just sleep when youre tired
however, if you find yourself crashing in the afternoon or after eating carbs, youre probably getting poor sleep because of high cortisol
most commonly happens during a cut or if youre just not eating enough, other than that just stressors in your life can cause chronically elevated cortisol
overtraining (particularly cardio) can also do it
also make sure you get enough magnesium, zinc, and b vitamins
magnesium in particular can improve sleep a lot
oh also vitD + sunlight ofc
> dude, sleep, lmao
I was like this for about 3 years after i caught covid the first time. finally recovered recently and i'm sleeping a more normal 8 to 9
>broke with his girlfriend because he thought she wanted to sleep with him but she just wanted to have sex.
Ftfy
Old time boxers slept for 11 hours. Your 5-6 hours are really bad.
not helpful
they had more to recover from, not a great counterpoint
Take Seroquel. Even a small dose will knock you out for 10 or more hours. And since you post on IST, you should probably be taking it anyway.
>Okay, what should I do if I wake up after 5-6 hours (on my own, without an alarm) and can't fall asleep again when trying?
Stop doing whatever is frying your nervous system.
start taking cjc no dac + ipamorelin and bpc157
you'll be sleeping
Find out why it's happening and then address that issue.
well, it (waking up) is happening because I'm rested
>drink a fair amount of water before going to bed(you'll have to see how much exactly works for you)
>wake up after 4 hours to go piss
>at this time take 1mg melatonin or even less(again, experiment)
>go back to sleep
enjoy your gains
I’m no doctor, and I’m only a recreational scientist, but if you wake up feeling well rested, then you’re well rested. Your body knows itself better than you do (at least in most aspects) so if you’re not tired, then that’s more important than the number of hours you slept.
Sleep is without a doubt the most important part of fitness. You would have to be genuinely moronic to disagree.
With that said if you wake up feeling well rested and are recovering on time for each hard workout then you're sleeping enough. If "enough" is only 6 hours instead of 8 then lucky you.
