So Buenos Aires was a falseflag, right? There's no way those dumb bugs could comand an asteroid so far away.

So Buenos Aires was a falseflag, right? There's no way those dumb bugs could comand an asteroid so far away. Seens like in the book aliens were more intelligent and did attack Earth but in the movie there's no way they did it.

No, they were bug terrorists so we have to spend 20 years sending young kids to die so that we can find their Mass Destruction weapons.

Movie came out before 9/11 so no one had any idea what a false flag even was. It was definitely meant to be the bugs who performed the attack.

False flags being portrayed in movie plots only started happening with the release of Loose Change.

You might be right, but I find it funny how everyone online just asumes "le nazi government did a heckin falseflag!" As if the concept of a falseflag or pyops were only used by fascists, kek.

I don't think they should be considered "opressed" just because they are getting attacked.

Some redditor got tired of losing arguments about the movie and decided to just get to ruin the threads with spam instead.

You don’t need to prove anything to spammers. Just do what you did and try to ignore them.

Were there really no other viable planets for Mormons to settle on between Earth and Klendathu? That's something like 70,000 light years away.

These are just plotholes that are probably explained in the book. I have read people saying Verhoeven didn't even finish the book before making this movie.

Verhoeven doesn't understand even the most entry level of astronomy. If he read the book, this would not have changed.

Correct, I have only seen it now because I saw a thread yesterday and it sounded cool so I decided to give it a chance. Not the first time I watch a movie after lurking a thread.

No because it wasn't a false flag in the book, & b/c Verhoeven admitted in an interview that the bugs literally launched the metoer in his film. So anybody claiming its a false flag is a legit moron.

No. Why would I make a thread about a movie I haven't seen?

Well that explains it all. Still kinda moronic to make giant wienerroaches fly a meteor into Earth but it's a fun movie nonetheless.

it doesnt make any sense. at the speed it moved, and we saw that, after already being on the way, it wouldve taken a couple hundred of years even from the distance the ship crashed into it. coincidentally at the exact perfect navigational route to klendathu, which for no other logical reason than someone avoiding that route, wouldnt already be programed into the nav computer. and earth couldve just nuked it with several high yield nukes, as if astronomers wouldnt notice. and coincidentally, it crashes into buenos aires, where the rich liberals created a haven for themselves, the only opposing force for the militaristic government cronies.

the whole movie is a propaganda piece and a good one.

movie was made before 9/11, the idea of a falseflag to start a war wasn't really a common thought for most people at the time
They actually attacked with a spore asteroid in the book and bugs were fought by MI on Earth, verhoeven is just a lazy director

take your meds my man, we're just having fun talking about a movie. if it werent ambigious, there would be nothing to talk about like if total recall was 'all a dream' or not. keeps the movie alive even years later.

Because you can't paint fascism in a bad light if they are the ones actually defending from a foreing threat. Remember the film is anti-militaristic and anti-fascist in nature.

Yes the movie is an obvious parody of war propaganda. Thing is it ends up painting humans as the good guys because aparently bugs did strike Buenos Aires and are also an invasive species.

It wasn't a falseflag, it was just stupid worldbuilding and a poor merging of two stories with different plots. That film is full of stupid worldbuilding I don't understand why people latch specifically onto the stupid worldbuilding of that attack and think it's a falseflag. The writer has confirmed loads of times there was no falseflag.

Also true. Perhaps these threads are more important in terms of requiring derailment/spreading the negative message than the marvel ones.
Interesting questions and thoughts he raises. Either way, another great beunos aires SS thread.
