>do bodyweight for few months

>i just enjoy doing handstand pushups
>my mood is elevated because i see progress, feel stronger, and get occasional complement
Fat around the stomach and hips has been linked to depression in men.
Fat is feminizing, so it fricks up what should be a high-test bravado masculine mentality.
Everyone has shit days and needs time to themselves to feel sad etc, but I'm no longer consistently miserable like I was when I was a fat dyel.
Exercise releases literal happy juice for short term boosts in mood too.
Based fellow calisthenics appreciator
If your mental health problems are due to you being a fat frick, yes. Otherwise, no.
I will kill myself if I stop going to the gym.
moving and being more active probably helps keep your stress levels down and keeping you more stable but as far as gym fixing any mental problems you have imma keep it a stack it might even make shit worse if you value it above everything and shit starts going bad in the gym
it wont solve shit if your mental state is deteriorating
normies who say it fixes shit are literal morons
but yeah, move, be active, aka normal human behaviour is good
t. lifting since 2011
Lifting since 2014, the first year was an unimaginable change, got my whole life on track after NEETing for a few years, met gf of 6 years now. However I made the most gains during covid lockdowns, and by the end all I did in my free time was force feed myself and lift. When I plateaued it was one of the worst feelings of anger and inferiority I've ever felt, nearly cost me my relationship and most friends because I had to make sure I was hitting but not exceeding calories and rep counts. Now I just do what I enjoy and try to slowgain/maintain. So yes listen to this anon, exercise of any sort is good but it can become the opposite if it turns into an obsession outside of the rest of your life. My gf tells me I'm bigger than 99% of guys but I still feel like an absolute dyel most days, body dysmorphia really does come with the gym membership.
It does.
Saved me after a suicide attempt
Absolutely. Physical and mental health are linked
if I don't exercise regularly I become (even more of) an butthole
Is Pewds roiding or is he simply fulfilling his blood right as a pure Nordic?
I have bipolar disorder and I'm still alive. I'd kill myself if I had to go back to being a fatty. The depression and suicidal thoughts are bad enough when everything is going well. I no longer have high blood pressure, and I feel like this has helped me manage my moody outbursts. Though I'm frustrated I can't seem to control it some days. I find diet helps more than exercise though. Temporary fasts will lift my depression for a day or two. Hard to keep fasting forever though.
Go on meds bud, bipolar is a b***h and lots of people kill themselves. One day the manic episode will be just too much and you will pull the trigger if you are not properly medicated. good luck with your struggle man.
It's not rocket science. Exercise increases blood to the brain, improves sleep, releases endorphins, etc. So of course it's going to impact mental health, how is that even a question?
>Exercise increases blood to the brain
Helping you better understand just how fricked everything is.
>It's not rocket science. Exercise drains energy, floods your body with metabolites, releases cortisol etc., so of course it's going to impact mental health, how is that even a question?
>t. University of Muh Common Sense, Dept. of Not Rocket Science
>Exercise drains energy
Exercise makes your body more energy efficient over time, and cortisol is not a net gain unless you overtrain or do heavy c*rdio.
Yes, instead of killing myself I'm just usually depressed and occasionally feel ok
At least theres a chance ill be happy instead of the guarantee i wont if i were less healthy
It's a meme. It's done absolutely nothing for me in the years that I've done it besides giving me a distraction from killing myself. When I see people try to call the gym their church I want to slap them.
Exercise provides increased production of endorphins and feel good chemicals related to ganja forgot the term.
just shut the frick up and take your goypills
He certainly seems happier the more jacked he gets, this is recent from Japan where he has an actual home gym.
Logan Paul would kick his ass
Okay but who asked?
No shit, moron
who?
>those half-rep chinups
Post body
>goes to le ebin nipland instead of buying a villa in italy where he could pump Marzia with some fricking kids
Am i the only one that thinks hes fricking moronic?
Never been to italy but living in japan is extremely comfy and the cost of living is pretty low.
t. Lived there for 2 years
I disagree personally with his choice but I understand, Japan's one of the only places left to flee the decay of the west.
Definitely needs to get on pumping out those kids too Marzia's not getting any younger
Nips are too autistic to approach him so I kinda get it. He gets to live a more peaceful life. Also, no ape outs.
hes an autistic nerdic so he like japan because he doesn't get recognized/approached as much
For a bit. It helped with me in the past but I'm back in a bit of a slump again. But the slump is just extreme loneliness. I wouldn't say I'm depressed though. At one point I was, but lifting and living a better lifestyle turned that around.
Anyways, most people are depressed due to shit lifestyle. It's not a chemical imbalance or whatever. So just lift and quit drinking.
I had an obese psychologist tell me that exercise and a good diet improves your mood and sleep and prolongs your life. Her recommendations were literally whole foods like brown rice, chicken, nuts, fruits, etc and eating in measured portions.
It's strange to me to look at someone in the eyes who knows they're obese, knows exactly how to fix the problem, knows why it's beneficial for life, and who even recommends it to others but refuses to use that advice to improve their own life.
And I have to say, she was correct--my mental health was/is vastly improved.
Every fatty and generally unhealthy person knows what a good diet is, deep down
>start day with hard shit
>literally nothing can possibly be more stressful or demanding for your brain or body after it short of an actual unlucky disaster
>repeat
life on ez mode, that's why im on IST typing this haha. I'm either ted kaz 2.0 or some kind of halfassed MKultra prospect that they gave up on, one of the 2
Doing callisthenics makes me feel good because I see my body improving, but doing cardio outside is far superior for mental health benefits during the actual exercise
Going cycling in the forest cured my depression unironically
From my experience yes. Without working out i get mad anxiety and sometimes get paranoid. It also keeps depression away.
But maybe im just moronic and also my hormone levels could be fricked but i wouldn't know since i never had them checked out so i go gym. Its easier
No.
I’m totally dependant on exercise to keep sane. It takes every ounce of my being to take a rest day because I feel so depressed when I do.
Linkrel:
>does your health influence your health?
dumb fricking question
It does and it's not a meme.
HOWEVER, it is not the holy grail of mental health like the self-help community would like you to believe but it is still that one should try if they don't feel good.
yes everything I do falls apart as soon as I stop exercising. didn't hit weights for 3 days and i stopped eating properly, sleeping properly etc
felt like i wanted to kms for about 3 months when I stopped because of an injury
Yeah it big time fricking helps in multiple ways I will list just a few
>Better regulation of hormones
>The physical prowess to not feel like a little b***h and also assert yourself in stressful situations
>When you get upset you can go exercise until you aren't upset anymore
It is not a meme really. An exercise routine and attention to your diet:
Builds discipline.
Builds personal responsibility.
Provides your body with nutrients, your physical health being tied directly to your brain chemistry.
Builds strength, allowing you to do more things.
Improves your ability to recover, reducing the likelihood of injuries and illness.
It's more akin to the foundation of a house. There can still be bad days and other issues, but you are not giving yourself the best chance of success if you let your physical health stagnate. Even a little bit is better than nothing.
scientifically i don't know, but there was a time i stopped lifting for a month and I felt sadness I forgot i knew, went away when I started lifting again.
thought i still often feel like shit because of current life problems it's never as agonizing.
would say it gives me a little bit of mental resiliency
Exercise is a great mood boost, you always feel good after a workout. It’s not a meme.
High intensity cardio has been studied in adult males with ADHD where it has shown efficacy, also it can affect hippocampal neurogenesis
Only if you do brain curls
I just had a shitty workout where I did worse than last time and I feel like shooting my brains out.
