>is a useless contraption made to make beanpole dyels with glass backs feel better about themselves
its superior for upper back growth, upright rows and shrugs
CONFIRMED
>it can be used for things that are not a trap bar deadlift
you got me
Want to train your legs? Go do squats, leg press, lunges etc.
Want to train your posterior chain? Go do deadlifts, RDL's, weighted back extensions etc.
Want to look like a fricking clown hogging plates you're not entitled to? Go do a high handle trap bar deadlift.
Useless lift.
seething contrarian incel
>heh I have no argument, knowledge or actual experience in the matter lets throw the 'cel
calm down lil 'celly
>>heh I have no argument, knowledge or actual experience in the matter lets throw the 'cel
your entire argument so far has been contrarianism with no actual knowledge, experience
>trap bars are le bad... because they hecking are!! because they are different!!!
There was an argument in the post, read it again and pretend your special education assistant teacher is standing next to you maybe you'll grasp it.
you are just a contrarian powershitter who has never used a trap bar
being contrarian for the sake of it is not an argument
case in point this bullshit you wrote here
>still no case of why it's not a useless lift
just admit bending over and picking something up terrifies you and this horror shall pass
people with way more experience and knowledge than you advocate for the trap bar deadlift
just admit you are a contrarian powershitter who cant even deadlift 4 plates but posts contrarian bs to make itself feel better
>people with way more experience and knowledge than you advocate for the trap bar deadlift
Nope, they don't.
I don't think I have ever seen or heard about a serious lifter that competes do trap bar deadlifts as a main variation.
Even in my gym only dyels use it, and that one 40 year old dude on test with disproportionate upper/lower development.
>EMG data
lmao
you are seething because you feel embarrassed about your 3 plate sumo deadlift
I have never pulled sumo, and I never will because I have self respect.
My deadlift is 5pl8 for reps.
no it isnt, you are a dyel who is trying to make itself feel better by being contrarian
>a 220kg deadlift is unbelievable
lmao, it really figures why you believe trap bar deadlifts are useful
its not unbelievable but it IS unbelieavable for a seething contrarian dyel incel like you
>everyone that says something contrary to my poorly founded opinions that I can't articulate a defence for are
>a) seething
>b) contrarian
>c) incel
First day after learning some new exciting words and you got carried away with it? I doubt you act like this in real life, anon.
5 plates total, 3 on one side, 2 on the other, smith bar troony in training to be like a fricken valktrie btw
You are a tard if you're arguing for powerlifters who compete. The trap bar is an argument for homegym equipment for people who want to build strength and size when they have limited space and money. Get out of this thread.
>trap bar deadlift
>strength
lmao
>hmm should I waste budget and space by getting this useless speciality bar, or should I just do a fricking squat + deadlift?
you see?
Squat + deadlift = powerrack + barbell + weights
trapbar deadlift = trapbar + weights
Get your math figured out
>spend money on a speciality bar
>spend money on bumper plates
>spend money on a lifting platform/floor padding
In order to do a lift that's an inferior version of both a squat and a deadlift.
vs
>getting the bumpers, the padding and a standard fricking barbell with a simple half rack which can also be used for benching, incline bench and seated barbell OHP
nah it checks out very well
You can also do trapbar deadlift on grass. padding or bumpers won't even be necesarry in that case. If you have bumper plates and no grass you won't even need padding. Could still get a cheap ass horse stall mat if you wanted and even then it's still cheaper than a squat rack barbell combo because you would then need that horse stall mat to do even normal deadlifts.
>Want to look like a fricking clown hogging plates you're not entitled to? Go do a high handle trap bar deadlift.
>Want to train your legs? Go do >>>leg press
You don't need to load a leg press with all the plates in the gym if you use the apparatus correctly. Feet placement, eccentric control, full ROM etc. Trap bar deadlifts mimics the same movement pattern but with much worse ROM so it's essentially a worse leg press.
Are you gonna seriously buy a leg press and let it take up that much space in your home gym?
a trap bar deadlift uses slightly more quads than a normal deadlifit but its still a hinge and has nothing in common with a leg press
you have no idea what you are talking about
a trap bar deadlift has nearly all of the posterior chain component removed from it
great deadlift you chose, and yes it is more similar to a leg press than a deadlift
all emg studies disprove your bs
you have never used a trap bar, so stop embarrassing yourself
upper back growth you say?

went from a 22 to a 36 inch standing vertical from trap bar deadlifting and i never squat. and i only did them for 6 months. can you even fathom what i just said?
At this point why not just use two dumbbells? It's basically just a dumbbell squat
You're gonna keep buying bigger and bigger dumbbells as you progress? Just get the trap bar so you only have to buy new plates. With dumbells you have to get a whole new pair each time you go up in weight. Plus imagine the feeling of those dumbells brushing up against your leg as you try doing a really shitty copy of a trap bar deadlift with them.
Lastly if you can afford a shit ton of dumbbells just use a squat rack + barbell
>You're gonna keep buying bigger and bigger dumbbells as you progress?
Yes. Adjustable dumbbells.
Can anyone explain how conventional/sumo/zercher deadlift is in any way better than this? This looks like the most natural movement ever
trap bar is objectively superior except for the contrarian ripptard gays who say trapbar is bad because rippetoad says so
Its easy cause the center of mass is inside of your body instead of in front of you. Its better as a whole leg builder than a deadlift but is worse for specialization and real world lifting.
>most natural movement ever
Please feel free to tell me 1 (one) real life situation in which standing on a contraption with a whole in the middle and two handles and lifting it is "natural"
Oh my god you still train the same muscles just in a safer and more efficient manner that will still help you in the “””real world””” lift.
>hurr durr center of gravity around you isnt natural
And neither is any “””real world””” scenario where you’re lifting a 1” diameter bar in front of you that’s perfectly balanced in some fantasy emergency situation.

picking up a wheelbarrow filled with concrete. checkmate moron. we can also add any cart device with similar handles. or how about when you lift a stretcher?
You should be training using all deadlift variations, including hack deads and one handed lifts, not just one which you picked because it's "more natural" or whatever. The mobility you exercise is the mobility you keep, and the ranges of motion you avoid using are the ranges you will lose as you get older.
>literally is only available for Olympic plates while most home gyms run on standard plates
The frick kinda poors get "standard" plates? Go check out the home gym thread, pretty much everyone I'm there has oly plates.
Nobody who actually lifts uses standard plates.
>most home gyms run on standard plates
what the frick are you talking about?
I have one for standard plates.
is only available for Olympic plates
You can easily buy one line picrel if you really want.
>while most home gyms run on standard plates
Lolwut? Maybe in the 80's
I flip mine upside down for more rom
>cheap trap bars only have a high handle
>trap bars designed for lower handle are all luxury brands that costs the same or more than regular barbells
you need to use lower handle exclusively to beat barbells
high handle sucks
lower handle costing so much more kills the cost effective point
Do your lifts while standing on a bumper plate you tard.
This thread and that other thread with the rings and kettlebells
are both trying to address a minimalist setup Jujimufu already had already explored.
His first workouts in his parent's garage consisted of only a pair of olympic rings and a barbell and some pl8s.
All he did was ring calisthenic workouts and deadlift and he got in pretty good shape.
He has unfortunate chest genetics so his chest looks smol compared to his huge back and blocky abs.
Otherwise that routine and all the tricking he did made him very athletic acrobat.
Once he started roiding he became the anabolic acrobat.

a sumo deadlift is closer to a leg press than a trap bar deadlift per all emg studies
no matter what the contrarian purists will tell you
>just squat
>just deadlift
Just solved your leg day at your home gym bro.
Reminder that deadlifts do nothing for aesthetics and that spamming deadlift variations is simply the fat powershitter's last resort for remaining relevant in a world where nobody but other fat powershitters cares how much a dude can deadlift.
reminder that you're neither strong nor aesthetic
boring troll
>neither...nor
Only skinny, ugly nerds know how to use this correlative conjunction. Post body+face.
If you know what it means what you said also applies to you, next time think your insults through before you post lmao
>If you know what it means what you said also applies to you
So? Scorched earth is based.
>Reminder that deadlifts do nothing for aesthetics
They actually do though.
What you mean to say is
>"Deadlifts done the way moron gymgoers do them (1rm pulls to egolift) do nothing for aesthetics"
If you do sets of 8-10 deadlifts your hamstrings, traps, forearms will all grow.
Powershitter propaganda.
I could anally rape you and you would be unable to defend yourself.
Your fifteen inches of pubic fat will defend me just fine.
There's a problem with a trap bar. You don't get to choose where the grip is. You only have one. If it's too wide or narrow for your tastes, you can't change it.
Trap bar isn't ideal anyway. The point is to have at least 1 good piece of equipment for leg day that is as cheap as possible. The trap bar meets the criteria. goblet squats are terrible because you're limited by how much weight you can heave to your chest. Goblet squats are terrible.
So use a barbell and do a hacksquat.
ROM is better with trap bar than hack squat. But if I already had a barbell I would just go with the hack squat cause deadlift is based
You know a barbell will work for a lot more exercises than a trap bar. Plus you'll have no problem putting it on a rack if you get one.
Trap bars are better first if someone is new to homegyms. If they get more serious about having a 100% ideal setup in their homegym then yeah they can just sell the trap bar and swap it out with a rack and a bar. Keep the plates they bought.
trap bar makes you able to do both squat and deadlift, which are the only relevant barbell lifts
everything upper body related can be solved by calisthenics
failure to agree just proves you're a powerfat unable to do a single pull up
I have never seen a white person use one of those things.
trap bar is superior for aesthetics, puts your traps in a better position to shrug due to the neutral grip
you also dont need to use mixed grip like a moron and get imballances
Why would you need to use mix grip when you can just hook grip?
just use straps ffs
Yeah just let another man frick your wife too while you're at it if you don't wan to do anything yourself and enjoy being emasculated.
I use this for my home gym and it’s a good solution though in the end you need one that can handle serious weight and then ofc you need the plates which are very expensive at least in my country
Using hooks or straps is difficult because weight needs to be balanced but there are DIY ways around it.
Unfortunately one of my shoulders can’t get into position to back squat anymore without searing pain, so I’ve subbed in the trap bar deadlift in my leg workouts. I’m still sore in the right places so I’ll take it.
>needs 800lbs of plates for a stimulus
The daddy.
any advantage to these open trap bars over closed ones?
or just a gimmick to look different?
The open ones have those jacks to make loading/unloading plates easier
What's an alternative for this I could do with 1 arm.
I can't load enough wait one 1 arm for my legs to feel shit but I'm also not allowed to do anything with my other arm.
Legs being so much stronger than arms makes leg day annoying now
