I play at weddings and similar events sometimes so I need to be somewhat competent in a bunch of styles but it's nothing too fancy, some folk fingerpicking and a dozen jazz standards, I can sound professional but a real jazz listener would spot me for the poser I am in 0.5 seconds.

I can hear these are heavily syncopated but it's extremely rhythmically sloppy (especially the second). And harmonically and in terms of timbre they're cacophonous. I've listened to too much unbelievably tight stuff like jamiroquai to hear sloppy rhythm sections.

Lars shit drumming broke the immersion for me. I know it's not really that bad as far as big name acts go, but compared to other metal bands in the same realm, it's so weak. Plus I don't know if it's a side effect of them being the biggest "metal" band and having heard their songs 3,000 times, they just sound stock. Mustaine can't sing worth shit and Metallica puts together a better live show, but Megadeth has so much more sovl and creativity.

Make friends in local music scenes. Be somewhat of an outcast for not really being that into local bands. Persist and discover recurring characters which are image obsessed scene hanger-ons, which are rizzlers just trying to get laid, and which are cool dudes who also play an instrument (usually themselves in a band in some capacity and may or may not have time to start another)
Just find people with no major issues like drug/sex addictions, tardiness, moronation who want to study a bit and get to the rehearsal room ready. These are very high-bar criteria btw, just be very careful about druggies and alkies.
