You need to challenge your muscles for them to grow. When you started doing pullups you most likely went until you physically could not do another reap. When you were doing lat pulldowns you probably just went until it felt painful enough to feel good about stopping even if your muscles could keep going. Many such cases.
You might want to do high reps of lat pulldowns after doing pullups by the way.
Just wait until you discover weighted pullups OP
literally the opposite for me, my lats exploding switching to close grip lat pull downs. Full stack repping 295lbs on lat pull downs while my weighted pull ups were at 115lb for 3. Fix your grip and make sure you're pulling with your elbows.
>295lbs
Would like to see your form. Are you doing them with slow and controlled reps?
i do them slow & controlled as a finisher after pullups & chinups
Imagine doing the same comedy routine for 16 years
Fricking grim
Imagine actually checking the date of that post and doing math to come up with some sort of insult because a guy who looks better than you made a post that you don't find funny simply because a good looking guy made it wow have a nice day immediately
NTA but are you not able to do simple addition my homie
When someone says 2008 was 300 years ago do you just believe them because you can't immediately calculate 24 minus 8
Simple addition is still math you moronic nerd
>guy who looks better than you
Costin looks like shit now bro. None of the shirtless pictures are him, which you would know if you actually paid attention.
>knowing who this guy is
>"ACKSHUALLY, he looks bad now if you paid attention"
Touch grass
imagine defending a niche e celeb
Once again, no idea who it is. I see good looking avi making funny post and then you incels seething about it clearly because you're envious. Crab in bucket incel, go outside
>incel incel incel
>PC posting on IST during the middle of the day
>getting mad at the word "incel"
its accessory work
>only 90 lbs
It's not going to do anything if that's the weight you use.
accessory brother
did pendlay rows and lazy ass wide grip pulleps 3x5+10
was doing cable pullovers concurrent with the pulldown
im not sure if theyre a "fraud" but I agree the def dont work as well as real chinups.
However, I did successfully use lat pulls to increase the rom on my chins. Whereas previsouly I caould barely pull myself up to the chin, during a fat phase I did lat pull downs with a weight starting to where I could pull the bar down to my clavicle, and aded weight from there. Once I deieted down and got lean enough to do proepr chinbups ahain, my rom was much better. I could chin myself to the clavicle or sternum, no problem.
So they have a place, but if you can do legit chinups/pullups, those are superior.
> fraud?
No but anecdotal experience is that pull-ups work better for growth. It’s my own experience and I heard that from multiple top level bodybuilding trainers
>It’s my own experience and I heard that from multiple top level bodybuilding trainers
>all bodybuilders and jacked dudes do pull downs primarily
Makes ya think.
once you understand how to use your back to pull via pullups, pulldowns become much better. same relationship exists with bench press and cable flyes
>are lat pulldowns a fraud?
No, merely regular pull ups are basically an S Tier exercise.
Bodyweight exercises are objectively superior. We've known this for years. And the body prefers movements that involve several muscle groups at once because that's how it's designed. We aren't robots. Pullups are important for fighting wrestling, and archery too. Lat pulldowns are for bodybuilders and fat people. Both are u healthy
Pull ups are fun
>Every thread like this
>lul lul lat pulldowns suck
Every jacked dude does pull downs and pull ups lol.
commando pull-ups made my lats EXPLOAD
or it might have been the dere creatine but still, commando pullups give the best lat pump imo
i started doing them with neutral grip ( 4 sets of 6, twice a week), and its fricking great.
really lets you hold the position at the top for a full second.
>lat pulldown: machine queen. Full stack isn’t even heavy because normalgay machine
>weighted pullups: humans literally cannot ignore a hulking beast swinging himself with plates clanging off his nuts
weighted pullups are almost as based as esoteric lifts like jefferson curls and neck curls
I've always been bad at pullups but I used to be able to do a decent amount of chinups, 9-10 per set at 82kg/180lbs. I lost a lot of progress over the course of almost two years when I stopped going as frequently and when I did I never really pushed myself, I've gotten my lifting back on track as of late but chinup/pullup progress has more or less stagnated around 4-5 reps per set. I should start doing them more often, I've neglected them as of late in favor of more fun exercises where I see more progress.
They're a complementary exercise at best.
