Surely if you're strong enough to do 1, 2, 3 or 4 than the others should be right around the corner right?

Surely if you're strong enough to do 1, 2, 3 or 4 than the others should be right around the corner right? I can deadlift 4 pl8s for 3 but I only bench 200 for 1, ohp 105, and I don't squat but my highest squat recently was 2 pl8s and I was winded afterwards.

Why is there such a disparity in my lifts?

Last one I hit was the deadlift, but that's because I didn't do them until I had been lifting for 6 or 7 years. Probably OHP is the hardest for most people, but I'm very lower body dominant so I could be wrong.

OHP is the hardest for people, because they focus on bench over OHP and treat it like an accessory lift and have no real plan or strategy to continue progressing with it. If a short girl can reach 1 plate OHP in no time, you have no excuse as a male.

Ohp is an accessory lift. Youre never going to have an OHP day over a bench day

It's my primary press and has carryover to bench, but not so much the other way around.

Yeah I do PPL mostly and shift my focus from chest to shoulders for my push days. Heavy bench, lighter shoulders one day, then the next I'll do heavy OHP and a lighter bench or incline.

is it weird that i hit 1PL OHP before anything else? atm can do 1PL OHP but only Deadlift lmao3pl and just below 2pl bench and 3pl squat

Well obviously I'm not asking too much about squats, but my bench and my OHP should theoretically be much higher especially since I only desdlift once a week but I bench 3 times a week

Aside from possible issues with your training, body proportions could be part of it. Long arms for example make deadlift easier and bench harder.

          Anonymous

It depends on the proportion of your limbs. My deadlift effortlessly went up until I got to 3 plates then I had to start putting some effort in. Meanwhile bench was an insane uphill battle once I got to 1 plate.

          >Long arms for example make deadlift easier and bench harder.

I can OHP 125 lbs for 5x5 but I'm still not close on the others.

Just hit lmao2pl8 on squat last week, bench 170 and deadlifted 285 today. I've been lifting consistently 3-4 times a week for a little more than three months.

I think the reason my OHP is so much more advanced is because I do shoulder isolations every time I go to the gym.

When I'm not cutting, I can do 1/2/3/4 for 3x10.
I've only been lifting seriously for about 2 years aggregate (spread out over 10 years)

that's weird anon, lmao1pl8 ohp feels way easier to me than 2pl8 bench, i focus on bench more and im trying to reach 2pl8, recently i got a pr of 95 kg(209lbs), but last monday i did a yolo for lmao1pl8 on OHP, ended up lifting it for 4 reps with strict form

as someone with long legs and relatively short arms, 1 plate OHP and 2 plate bench are so much easier than the hell that is squatting 3 plates at parallel

  8. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

I'm the opposite, I can do 150lbs OHP for 3 reps, but barely 3pl8 on both deads and squats. But then again I'm doing a lot of calistenics and my shoulders are probably best part of my body cause I'm working a lot on handstands now

OHPing 1pl8 or more is easypeasy as a girl. My secret is Z press, pin press and ignoring bench for ages. 1pl8 rdl sounds ridiculously low? 2pl8 squat sounds more normal. Why not 4pl8 hipthrust? Going that heavy on leg press is moronic.

OHP was so easy for me but squatting and DL is hard as frick. I guess it’s because im 6’3”

Easiest was OHP by far, then squat only because I was doing SL 5x5 and I blew my intensity load on squats every time. Didn't get to 2pl8te bench, but never really cared about that.
Deads weren't good since I was tired all the time and didn't find a good form until recently.

I am 5'11 with long legs. It's priorities.

Olympic bars are the worst gym routine for anybody who is not training yo be in the fricking Olympics, stay away from that shit most people will hurt their body pretty bad trying to lift that many plates with their fricking spine, other then bench press which fricks up ur shoulders everything is involves stressing ur spine, use machines and dumbbells if u're just trying to get fit it will get u there without any damages

50 and 25lb plates. Some rare 75 and 100lb plates.
      metric plates are rare(45's).

    Easiest, in order:
    Bench/deadlift, squat, OHP.
    >bench is fraud able to an extent, most people lack the mobility to giga arch, many people lack the self respect to not have their ass a foot off the bench
    >deadlift is not fraud able, you are free to pull 4pl8 as cat backed as you want, this is the beauty of this lift; lifting like an butthole has the direct consequence of permanent vacancy in snap city
    >squat is very fraud able, I have seen enough low bar fold over spinal good mornings short of depth
    >OHP is possibly the most frauded. People here claim it's the easiest, because yes it's easy to label your hybrid push standing incline bench ass clown shenanigans as a "strict press".

I hit 3 plates on bench before I got a gf and she had BPD. I didn't get another gf until I got to 5 plates and I married her. Gf is definitely the hardest one.

3 plate squat is the only one I havent done. Idk about hardest but holding heavy weight on my shoulders feels like a great way to frick my back and knees

  25. 11 months ago

When I hit 1/2/3/4 things weren't symmetrical at all. I hit 4pl8 first, then 1pl8 ohp, then 3pl8 squat and then finally 2pl8 bench, it took me a long time to get the bench, but only like 3 months for the dl.
Now I'm approaching 2/3/4/5, and the lifts are a lot closer - everything within 20 lbs of the end all at once. Just an interesting anecdote.

  26. 11 months ago

You probably have stubby legs and long arms. Height and leverages make a lot of difference. I have long legs so my squat has always been relatively behind my bench press for example, most I’ve hit on squat is 335 and I benched 275 at the same time

  27. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

The real question is what's harder: 225 ohp or 315 bench.

      Anonymous

What a moronic statement. Going to 315 on bench from 2pl8 is a much smaller leap than 135 to 2pl8 on overhead press
