redpill me in the definitive best way to clean teeth?
What kind of toothpaste?
What kind of brush? Electrical , hard or soft ?
Mouthwash? Useful ? Before or after brushing ?
Do I need to rince after brushing?
What i am doing in this order :
Waterflosser
dental floss
mouth wash
manual brushing without rinsing
I use a normal brush & toothpaste twice a day (after breakfast & before bed).
Never had a cavity.
But I do have some "shading" inbetween 2 teeth, so I started flossing with those little floss pick things.
Really depends on your mouth, diet, etc, there isn't a blanket rule
Generally electric is better, floss first then use mouthwash (so it gets below the gumline) and then brush, don't rinse.
Mouthwash should be alcohol free (you have friendly bacteria in your mouth that help control the bad bacteria and keep your mouth moist)
Avoid SLS (sodium laureth sulphate), it's a common allergen and causes a lot of common problems like dry mouth, itchy tongue, mouth ulcers, blocked nose, ear problems etc. Depending on your country's laws it may not be listed as an allergen at all (in my country allergens have to be listed if it's in a product you swallow, so oral products aren't considered). SLS is a foaming agent so it's useless anyway, it's genuinely put in there because consumers expect oral products to be foamy (it's also used in cosmetics and hair products, so if you ever have had itchy scalp, dandruff, etc assume it's SLS as the likely culprit and check the ingredients on anything you buy)
Don't use abrasive toothpastes like smokers or charcoal unless you genuinely need it, and even then only use it once per day (followed by normal toothpaste). It fricks your enamel which cannot be restored anywhere near as fast as you can scrape it off.
If food sticks between your teeth it'll make cavities. It can also cause gum disease if you get it stuck low enough. I'm a maybe once a week flosser and I don't get cavities though since I brush well. Brushing well can also frick up your gums with gum recession though so just floss and brush moderately.
By far sugar/potato starch is the worst thing for your teeth though. Rather than brushing, I think I don't get cavities since I drink sugary things with a straw and I rinse my mouth with a drink of water when I eat
I tried to drink with a straw but I’m such a moronic subhuman moron that I’d suck up enough to fill my entire mouth before swallowing, defeating the purpose of the straw.
>Get toothache when 15 >Ignore it because scared of needles >Eating peanut M&M at 23 >Notice odd sensation on tooth that no longer hurts >Snap pic >Tooth has cracked in half
3,600$ later the root canal and crown got it taken care of. Still, take care of your teeth bros.
If I posted pictures of my teeth in this thread it would get reposted so much and I'd become a meme.
Because of that I won't ever but I can tell you a bit about them.
My left molar is nearly rotted through, the one behind it is almost gone too, both of them had fillings that came out. The right molar had a filling too but it came out a long time ago. A year or two ago I was eating beef jerky when I felt something crack. The tooth had split and I picked out the pieces and now there's a crater with bits of tooth and decay.
Im going to the dentist for the first time in 8 years. I have some brown spots in between some teeth but I don’t feel any pain or sensitivity so I suppose it isn’t too bad right now.
Only tips I have: >rinse mouth with water after eating ANYTHING >finish tea/coffee in under 20 minutes >floss everyday after brushing. you should be coating it in toothpaste too
the toothpaste on floss is a new one for me. I put a blob of toothpast in my snuffbox and dip the floss as I unwind it it, takes a bit of skill but I'm getting the hang of it.
I think you mean to not forget to floss.
baby steps.

This, but more importantly
This
Best way to keep teeth clean is to avoid the things that damage them in the first place.
duraphat
novamin
not necessary if you eat properly
how important is flossing
ive never done it

My mouth is a mess, I'm practically about to lose all my teeth.

I just used my Waterpik and brushed my teeth.
Now no fluids or food for an hours

How do I make my wisdom teeth to pop out?
Starting dental school right now. Will be promoting teeth health on this board from now on.
