I just go to the gym, workout, and leave. Any advice for making friends who share my interests?

There are 4 of us that I would call regulars that are all around the same age. We work out a few feet from eachother, 4-5 times a week. (They dont go weekends) We should be bros, and yet day after day, nobody talks to each other.

Its the same with girls at the gym, I know the great debate over whether to talk to girls at the gym or not but despite being surrounded by people everyone's in their own world

Bump. I am generally friendly and outgoing, but at the gym I just do my thing with my airpods in 5 times a week. Haven't made any friends there and usually I make friends just about anywhere else organically.

Any advice? Should I lose the airpods for a couple weeks or something?

Bumping my thread? Either way I don't think Airpods make a difference whether you talk to people or not as you could just take them out or put them in transparency mode, I think it just influences how approachable you appear

Dropp a dumbell in someone's foot. Hopefully it breaks it and you start a beautiful friendship because you go to the hospital with him (better if her) and you offer to look after him until he recover

      Sound advice, any more?

Yeah I'm bumping your thread but why are you giving out advice in a thread you made for asking for advice?

Because I'm asking for similar but different advice

Don't wear airpods. Say hi to people, make eye contact. Tell someone they got a nice form on a lift or something.

If I don't wear headphones I become conscious of everyone around me and go out of my way to avoid them

I am 25, technically the high end of Gen Z, as much as they're my generation if I see them with cameras, tripods, etc. I turn and walk away

        *You're
a contraction of the word you and are
        You'(a)re.
        Your=possession, it's not "my probably" I don't own 'probably'.

Also I was rated a 90% for attractiveness on photofeeler.

meetup.com or other 'net forums dedicated to interests. That's how my autistic ass made all my friends, not even memeing.

However, this here isn't a net forum dedicated to an interest.

What are your interests? I've been meaning to pick up more hobbies but not nerdy or shut in activities

You don't want gym bros, trust me.
Gym pals might be ok, but never give a gym pal your phone number or socials or you run a high risk having some needy gymcel cling to you like you're his mom. Even then gym pals will extend your training sessions by 30 minutes to an hour just to talk about the most mind numbing shit you can imagine.

why not ask someone for a spot? it's silly but it lets you introduce yourself. if you go at the same time you can start saying hello and having slightly longer conversations, maybe transition to a real friendship.
personally i don't really want gym friends. whenever a friend asks me to lift with them i get frustrated that we're moving so slow. sometimes people approach me to say good job with a weight or ask me why im doing a particular variation of a movement, which is nice because it's relatively brief and in good faith. but maybe you could do the same to someone else? see someone bench heavy, go give them props? good luck anon

I get worried about embarrassing myself if I fail the rep, would rather just die

get a spot on a set with a weight you usually can get 10 reps on, and go for 12 reps instead with their help. that way if you fail you still get a good 10 in and don't feel embarrassed
