I have torn the scapholunate ligament on my right hand. I spoke to my wrist surgeon guy and he's estimating near $15,000 for surgery.
I am no longer making it bros, the show is over for me.

You have no health insurance to help you out on this?

I don't have private health insurance, I live in Australia and am 20, so the first issue is I don't have 15k at the moment to even afford the surgery.

I was goofing around with a mate and punched a boxing bag with my bare hands horrifically wrong. Then I continued to lift weights still despite the pain.

Kek yep.. that will do it. I did mine hitting tires off of the wheel hub with an open palm.

OP here, so you also tore that scapholunate ligament?? Did you manage to fix it or do anything about it? It's just cooked because I've had some situations come up and I definitely do not have the money to cover the surgery, just gotta work heaps and save and I'll be able to get some surgery on it to hopefully fix it.

Wash the affected part in very hot water, don't burn yourself, but as hot as you can stand it. Will take some weeks though. Because you're dumb.

I tore my TFCC and got treated at Andrews in Gulf Breeze. Take the recovery and PT seriously. That sucks for you. I still have marks on my credit for refusing to pay what my insurance didnt.

Pay more attention to the way you hit shit with your hands and pick shit up

Appreciate it mate, it's just a bummer because I can't lift unless I want to look like King Crab, I'll hopefully be able to maintain a lean physique if I just run, skip and do heaps of ab exercises 🙂

Ideally, if you can take on some sort of debt to get this sorted somehow, I would do it. Hands are extremely difficult to work with, and the sooner you can get this sorted, the better the outcome of surgery and rehab will be.

I'd seriously consider SL repair. Carpal instability is a b***h, especially the long term consequences (look up DISI wrist, SLAC wrist). If surgery in aussieland is too expensive, maybe a medical holiday (surgery+recovery in a nice hotel) in a place like Singapore is an option?

    Tl;dr get surgery OP

I had/have a partial tear of a scapholunate ligament on my right hand. It happened in June this year, but luckily it was just a partial tear and it wasn't too bad. Had pain for like three days and then it got better, but over next 2-3 months it would still flare up occasionally.
I'm still doing some exercises to strengthen my wrist, but overall looking back it wasn't too bad. Was probably helpful that I wasn't moronic and tried to work through pain, I'm not trying to be a dick and genuinely hope you get better soon, but you probably really didn't do yourself any favors by doing that.
